I had a customer give me a copy of a program called "Gimp". Its a image manipulation, free program.

Does anyone have any experiance with this or any comments about it?

Thanks in advance

Hi Mike,

yes, I have loads of experience with the program (it's what I used for about 3/4 of a year before I could afford Photoshop 7) it's powerfull program, and there's a ton of stuff you can do with it. It's got a lot of photoshop's features, but its not so easy to navigate, and it's lacking some things (plus it's tablet support isn't very good). if you have any specific questions you want to know about it, just ask and I'll do my best to answer them for you.

Hi Mike. I used Gimp for awhile just to see what it was like. I was pretty impressed by the range of features it has. I'd say it's up there when it comes to serious photo-editing software. Not in Photoshop's league, but ahead of Photoshop Elements.

It is not 100% compatible with photoshop file formats. I loaded a photoshop file with multiple layers and blend modes and GIMP could not properly render the image.
