Here's a recent picture of my son. I'd love to see what the big brains around here could do with this!

He's a little grubby and dirty from pursuit of said lizard, and the photo is otherwise untouched.

Adorable picture, Amanda. Great job "capturing the moment."

On this one I:
* Used the eye dropper tool to select a dark brown color from the Background and on a separate layer "airbrushed" that color around him to hide distracting background reflections, etc.
* Merged the two layers onto a new separate layer ("Zap BG").
* Used Blur / Smart Blur / Normal to simplify the image a bit.
* Duplicated simplified layer and applied Find Edges filter followed by desaturation
* Levels adjustment layer above the Find Edges layer to fine tune the edges a bit
* Created a Brightness / Contrast adjustment layer (no changes to settings yet)
* Copied "Zap BG" layer to top of layer stack and changed blend mode to Color
* Brightness / Contrast adjustment layer: Adjusted B/C until I liked the colors
* Flattened and then cloned over a couple rough spots
* Added a little more color in the eyes via a Hue/Sat adjustment layer set to colorize. Inverted and selectively added color by airbrushing with white.
* Added a simple 2-color stroke frame

A fun one to do!

Based around Buzzed (Watercolor + simplify 2) layers blended over the original, with some boosts to colour saturation on the red and green channels - also some selective curves and levels.

Leah, great effect. I like the boldness of it, and the surreal quality...his head is floating...cool!

Great picture, Amanda, and thanks for sharing it! In the future, you might want to consider putting new pics like this into the photo art "members challenge" section so they are easier to find for us folks looking for new photos to "artify."

I don't know the Latin name, but we've always called those "money bag lizards". It's just your average green lizard. The males have a red whattle that they inflate to impress the vivacious girly lizards when they see them.

Phyllis - I cannot give you the song and verse but we always called them chameleon lizards. They will change color to match their surroundings (within reason - no plaid!).
