at the end of his post Ed asks "Wouldn't it be nice if we could have an RetouchPRO get-together?"

So I figured why not throw this out for a BASIC vote to the members. -- Doug made mention of the Events page in the thread (that is why I am posting here)
If I am posting this in the wrong section - could a someone please move my thread to the correct location.

So I guess the first vote would be;
Is there interest in trying to work out a RetouchPRO get together?

Please feel free to offer your reason why you voted the way you did (optional)

If interest is high we can then review location, format, 1day, 2days and so on.

Then if it takes off -- the voluteers to help! LOL

This is an interesting idea...perhaps it could coincide with a Photoshop or Digital Imaging conference in a large city? Or maybe we could all just meet at Ed's place and he can buy us coffee! ;)

Hmmm.... very interesting. Where I work we have a training center (to small for something like this) but there are much larger training center in or around cities that would have computers ready to go. Oh what fun that would be. I like Chicago kind of central.

Chicago would be best for me, although I would love to be able to visit Flora, BigAl, Jade, ... :) It's hard to get away from the little one, but Chicago would be a quick enough drive away that I think I could manage that one.

Hi all! Sounds like a good idea to me. A possible suggestion would be Photoshop World. If a get together is near a seminar or trade show some of us could write it off our taxes just like the big shots.

It sounds like a wonderful idea, and I'd love to be there. But the reality is, that unless it is nearby, and during a time when things slow down for me, I probably wouldn't make it.

If you do have a get together, I hope someone takes lots of pictures for any of us who don't make it.

I hate to tell you this Bob, but Helga probably wouldn't enjoy herself. Princess flunked kindergarten (training classes) because of her dislike for other animals. :( She loves people though! :) (I can beg, borrow, or buy enough cups!)

Chicago would probably be the only place that I might have a chance of going. It's close enough to home, but family has to come first, and it's uncertain when I could get away. But the idea is GREAT! That would be a fun time.

While I would certainly love to come meet all of you wonderful folks, unless y'all want to come down and have it in my backyard I doubt I could come. :)

Would be quite a get together, though. Not a pixel in a fifty mile radius would be safe...

Why must there only be one get-together? If someone is feeling hospitible, simply yell "c'mon down!" and those in the vicinity can respond.

I would go to Chicago (have family there!)...given enough advance warning. I think that's a very good choice given the central location...for US residents anyway, and perhaps a few folks in Canada.

Of course, if someone can raise the money, I would be happy to volunteer to drive a RetouchPro motor home around the country! :D

The Chilympiad is always a big deal down here in the spring. Very large chili event draws people from all over the US.

I'm not such a big chili fan, but I'll take some TexMex and a big old 'rita anyday.

The getting together and meeting is a great idea but as many people pointed out.. hard for some since flying is oh so pricey grrr ~ heheh

I am a member of cuworld so I can create a room for anyone to enter. Being able to sign up to enter a room is free, creating private rooms is what paid membership gets me.

Anyone curious can visit www.cuworld.com to see how it works. I would be happy to host a room, it can hold up to 12 people at a time for a 3 hour duration. Not real sure when to do it since there are so many time zones represented here ...

I too could handle Chicago as long as I had plenty of time to plan ahead but then I feel bad for all our friends around the world who would think that too far from them. I have to say, It's a great idea but you would have your hands full trying to pull it off I think. But then I guess if we felt that way nothing would ever come to pass. So far I've met 2 members of RetouchPRO and both were just as nice in person as they are on the site. We seem to have attracted a nice group of people on this site. Even if this doesn't work out Doug is right that if you are heading near a member you would like to see let them know and set up a place to meet like Ed and I did. You might be pleasingly surprised. :)

This is not the best time of year so maybe try for May or June. If any of you are up for it, drop me a line (jeff@rocklobsters.net) and we'll see what happens. I think that is enough time to make arrangements for a good price and set up some sort of itinerary.

I'm in the same boat as you Legacy! It would be fantastic to meet up with RetouchPro friends for certain and I wish you all well in your endeavours to get together. I like the montage idea for those not "present" on the date.

so if i can get the money i need alot of other things to fit together :)
i would proberply whant to get to New Tork to shoot alot on location model/fashion shots and so on. But my Photoshop skills would really benefit from it, im sure.
So it all depends on a; can i get the money and b; can i get all the other things like place to stay and so on to fit.
Combined with a conferense about Photoshop would be cool, but maybe also complicatet.

Reading through the posts i had a idea ( oh no must stop it :nod: ) As the logistics of everyone getting together is a bit hard,
So on a given date (or maybe a week ) everyone takes a photo (Say outside ) and posts and then try to make a montage of the photo's which because of the size would have to be split into groups say moderators as one senior members as another etc etc or even countries
What do you think ? maybe some one could set it up ?

Funny i never thought about all photographers and artists disliking pictures of themselves, but that is mainly why i started taking the photo's myself only problem being it dosen't look as if i ever go to any functions etc. But surely being able to retouch photo's we could bypass the problems? Like i would make myself thinner, younger etc
But i do think the front door option could be very interesting in a nosey sort of way.
