Here is a lovely Redwinged Blackbird all ready for some photoart...

PM--I like the second version of your red-winged-fibber better.

1. Made a duplicate of the background and ran Buzz simplifier at around 90.
2. Duplicated this layer and ran cutout. I set the blending mode on this layer to soft light and then merged the layer down into the buzz layer.

3. On the merged layer, I ran Texture--Grain--Speckle option. And set the opacity to around 75% to let a little of the original come through.

4. Added a pattern fill layer with a blending mode of soft light to give it texture

Cheryl,

Nicely done! I really like the new texture in the background. I don't have Buzz, but the combination of the simplifier and cutout filters really did a nice job turning the image into photoart.

If birds could talk. Maybe, I don't know.

Based on the method/Photoshop action described HERE (http://www.retouchpro.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=55910#post55910).

The trouble with Blackbirds is that they are black. Getting the details out aint easy.
Done using Art history with added texture.
Thanks T for posting this, I think it should have gotten a bigger response.

Well, Peter -- your rendition should get the interest sparked in this thread again! :)

I use mac and pc but on pc I just right click and save but for those of you on PC who need a nice screen shot program there is a free one on FileHippo called MWSnap. It is excellent with lots of options.

Just a little creative depth of field addition. I love the song these birds have.

Since this is the Creative Interpretations thread, I can go far afield -- I used some extrude, some Dark Strokes, some Glowing edges, some layer blends, etc. I imagine their song being turned into solid objects -- flying around about them wherever they go...

Sweetlight -- I love their songs too -- I miss hearing them as they have moved due to the farmland being developed into housing, but there are some sanctuaries where they still visit.

Blackbirds are cool. I've got a couple grackels in my back yard that will eat out of my hand. They can be quite pushy though.

I selected various areas of color and "painted" with textures using the Texturizer.

Nice one Swamp Lady, you've made it look like one of those coffee table books every one likes, or maybe an Ad for a Bird world place.

Thanks, Peter. For some reason, I found this photo difficult to "do" something with. I thouhgt trying some painting with texture might be fun because of the corn and beans (or whatever that is on the right of the feeder). I never could really visualize where I wanted to go with it.
