View Full Version : From The Heart..... chris h 09-11-2001, 11:22 AM All of my friends and associates on this side of the pond are shocked and outraged by the terrible events unfolding in NYC and other parts of your country. Please accept our thoughts and commiserations at this very difficult and tragic time. Chris W. 09-11-2001, 12:39 PM Thanks so much for the kind words Chris.
It does help to know this side of the pond is not alone in their fight for freedom. I have felt the same way as you when some tragedy has happened in England or other parts of Europe.
Thank you again for the heartfelt words. DJ Dubovsky 09-11-2001, 12:55 PM Thank you Chris. I guess attacking the US is the same as attacking Britian because of our close relationship to each other. I know how I would feel if the same thing were done to any of our European nations. And with this kind of terrorism we all are victims and need to band together as nations against this kind of cowardly act. Scarier than what happened today is what's going to happen in the future becasue of this. It's a frightening thought.
DJ Thanks Chris. It was brutal seeing it on TV. I can't imagine what it must have been like to actually be there. We appreciate your thoughts in a time like this.
Ed thomasgeorge 09-11-2001, 01:30 PM Chris h., Your and your associates thoughts and prayers are deeply appreciated. I hope that those responsible for this act of lunacy are remembering something Admiral Yamamato said around 60 years ago, following another such cowardly incident,..." ....we have awakened a sleeping giant".... to underestimate American resolve and response is a fatal blunder, as will be soon seen. Tom Markzebra 09-12-2001, 05:41 PM I'm in the UK too - London.
I know there is a tangible feeling af amazement and shock in this city at the moment. Our thoughts - and I'm sure the thoughts of most of the world are with the families and friends of the victims. DJ Dubovsky 09-12-2001, 06:32 PM To our UK and European friends and others, thank you for your sentiments. They mean alot to all of us here.
DJ Thanks Mark. It's encouraging to know that others care.
Ed jeaniesa 09-12-2001, 11:33 PM Thanks so much for your kind words Chris and Mark. It's so wonderful to hear words of support and solidarity from friends around the world. -Jeanie chris h 09-14-2001, 12:43 PM I was on the hills today and snapped this as I rolled into my friends restaurant for tea. thomasgeorge 09-14-2001, 01:47 PM Of all our Allies, England still stands premier. No wavering or excuses. Inspiring and appreciated!!!! Tom CJ Swartz 09-14-2001, 05:35 PM Thanks, Chris and Mark!
Watching the Queen, Prime Minister Blair, Prince Charles, and hundreds of English parishioners sing "The Star Spangled Banner" this morning was amazing and inspirational.
With a valiant ally such as England and the whole UK beside us, fanatic terrorists shall fail in their ultimate purpose. Chris,
Thanks for the photo. It's really uplifting to know that we're not alone in this.
Ed chris h 09-15-2001, 05:17 AM From what I saw of the 'Changing of the Guards' at Buck House there seemed to be a large number of US residents and tourists in attendance as well as our own people.
I only wish our own national anthem had the 'gravity' of your own or the 'fire' of France's 'La Marseillaise' Markzebra 09-15-2001, 05:54 PM Sorry I feel compelled to say this but none of that made any difference. I think most of all its important to realise that its a humanitarian response.
Most of all at this point, I just hope that foolish actions don't make the situation for all of us much worse.

Just edited this post -"foolish actions", it looks like a premonition I had then has been borne out now looking at Iraq and Afghanistan, sadly DJ Dubovsky 09-15-2001, 09:31 PM I too hope things won't worsen for us all but I know that can't be. The gauntlet has be thrown down and to keep ignoring their destructive tactics would be the same as condoning it. Tuesday has already proven that when nothing is done the terror escalates. What next, nukes or bio attacks?
They showed the truly heartfelt response of our UK brothern and we knew they, the people, felt our pain. A woman in France was questioned on her response to the attacks at a memorial ceremony and her response was that we are all American now. That was very touching to hear. It helped erase those awful pictures of people dancing in the streets to our suffering.
DJ I certainly have to agree with you Debbie. It *has* to be stopped.
Ed chris h 09-16-2001, 09:34 AM Quoting the gentleman in London.....
I think most of all its important to realise that its a humanitarian response. People all over the world have felt a tremendous feeling of horror and revulsion at this act.
The general feeling in my neck of the woods is a humanitarian response to the plight of the victims but in no way is further appeasement recognised as the way forward. Those days have gone. |
