For the benefit of IanW:
This is not intended to be a full blown tutorial; but I was asked to expand on how I cleaned up the walls on Restoration Challenge "Sellotape Nightmare".
My thanks to Jakaleena, who suggested that this would be the best way of forwarding the information. [details (http://www.retouchpro.com/tutorials?m=show&id=70)]

Thanks for posting this. A few suggestions to help those that haven't seen the Challenge:

You could describe how to get from a path to a selection.
You might want to include a before/after.
You could also include a link to the Challenge image, and a link there back to the tutorial.

A very good illustration of an interesting technique.

Some good points there.

I never gave a thought about paths and selections.

I guess I should never assume that others know how these things should be done.

I'll try and enhance the posting to include your suggestions.

Steve,
Armed with your tutorial on wall restoration I went back to the original
Sellotape Nightmare. I selected the wall and followed your instructions.
The result was great, the wall was significantly cleaned and grain was retained.

Many Thanks
Matt
