| View Full Version : Creative interpretations: Rugby, anyone? DannyRaphael 01-13-2004, 01:32 PM Looks like they're getting a kick out of this game, no? Photo by Gavin. Enjoy... ~Danny~ DannyRaphael 01-18-2004, 09:46 PM Not many rugby fans, I take it... Oh well, ya can't win 'em all. I merged the results of two actions I'm developing, one for the sort of arty, painterly-like colors, the other for the detail layer which overlayed it. I'll post the details if anyone is interested. ~Danny~ peejay 01-19-2004, 07:17 PM Well I am always interested in learning, have a long way to go! As for the rugby, sadly, after losing in the World Cup again, its not a happy topic :-( Pat Jeff L 01-19-2004, 07:55 PM A quicky here but that is a cool photo to work with... Patricia 01-19-2004, 08:25 PM This is a very different type image than I usually work with . . . learning something new! I'd love to be able to take this type of action shot well, as I have a nephew who plays high school soccer. I used Insta-Sketch pro for this one. Patricia rlspencer1 01-20-2004, 04:19 PM Hi Danny: Thanks for the opportunity to work on masking. All I did was: 1. Did adjustment to original B/C, Emboss and Sharpen 2. Split the iamge into two parts b&w and left the color iamge 3. Radial zoom on B&W 4. Masked center player on to B&W 5. Touched up a little Thanks for the picture. Bob platscha@cs.com 01-20-2004, 04:38 PM What is that guys name, the artist that has done all the sports paintings Neiman? It will come to me. This is outstanding and of course you know I want to know all the details. Roy Neiman I think that is it. rlspencer1 01-20-2004, 04:59 PM LeRoy Neiman - platscha and that was my thought exactly. Bob Peter S 02-18-2007, 05:36 PM Sorry but for a proper game of Rugby it should be raining. Peter lkroll 02-18-2007, 06:10 PM Was going to do a Neimanesque rendering, but the original was way too small, and due to size constraints vs. quality, decided to leave this one as square dots. Used DCSpecial's ICE4 filter and GIMP's Dilate filter for this one. Topped it off with a Warp Sharp Script-fu to help fill in some of the gaps. Still not happy with the quality due to compression, so here (http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/4433/cirugbygavanrw2.jpg)'s a higher quality version. :) Kraellin 02-18-2007, 10:16 PM i like your original work on this one, danny. i like rispencer's too. but it was peter's that inspired me... there's rain and then there's RAIN! Steve Conway 02-19-2007, 09:24 AM Here's a "not quite Neiman" version. Steve C. Swampy 02-19-2007, 02:08 PM Not quiet Neiman either... Kraellin 02-19-2007, 02:33 PM i like both of those, steve, swampy. steve's has a good painted look and dee dee's imparts motion very well. Swampy 02-19-2007, 02:54 PM Hahah... Craig.. you caught me! I did use motion blur, but then a cut out filter and a mask on the blur to try to reduce the streakiness that motion blur imparts and is a dead give away. Ya got a good eye, laddy. LOL byRo 02-19-2007, 07:55 PM Sorry but for a proper game of Rugby it should be raining. At school, I used to be the left forward. On rainy days I would have preferred to be left behind. Rô Swampy 02-20-2007, 06:55 AM Great crop, Ro. Also wonderful brush strokes. Peter S 02-20-2007, 08:24 AM At school, I used to be the left forward. On rainy days I would have preferred to be left behind. Rô Should that be Left Back (in the changing room) Nice one Ro Peter Kraellin 02-20-2007, 09:30 AM dee dee, well, i really wasnt trying to catch you or anything. i just liked the motion effect :) Ro, excellent! Steve Conway 02-20-2007, 09:48 AM i like both of those, steve, swampy. steve's has a good painted look and dee dee's imparts motion very well. Don't know if Leroy would approve, but it was fun trying. And thanks Craig. Steve C. palms1 02-20-2007, 01:27 PM Tried one of Danny's actions that i found in a thread yesterday ( sorry cant remember which one. post that is ) I like it, alterred one thing then boosted the colour Palms |
