Any thoughts on a plan of attack for this major damage?

I've gotten great results by scanning the image, as usual, then flipping the image around and scanning again. I then lay one over the other via Layers in Photoshop. I play around with the opacity until the crack starts to fade, or sometimes all but disappears.
