Hi Tzabaoth -- Thanks for taking the time to put this together. If you do get a chance to go back through and add some images that would be great -- your instructions are pretty clear but it's human nature to find things easier to follow with pictures

Tzabaoth,

Welcome to RetouchPro. That method of colorizing looks interesting. I'll try it out. Thanks for contributing.

I must be doing something wrong...followed your steps and I can't get a "red colorization" on step 3. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance
Deb

Hi Deb,
Maybe i can help you here.
Duplicate the background layer
Use quick mask (q) and make sure your foreground color is black, (ctrl+D) will set it to the default
Then use a brush to paint on the part you want to color
When you finish this, press q again get out of quick mask and continue with the rest of his steps.
Please let me know if this helps or if you need more information, this is very easy once you get it.
I have tried this method and it is very good

Great that worked...feel kind on dumb. I am still learning and spend almost as much time reading on this site as I do in PS! Ha ha

Something that screwed me up the other day was that i had lowered the pressure or opacity of the brush and couldnt figure out why i wasnt getting the red highlite... and sorry i am just now responding even tho i see its been resolved... just now found the forum, lol.

Excellent, thank you!

I too struggle with skin tones.

I would have done the soft light or colored layer and then grouped a color balance layer to each coloring layer - your way is soooooo much easier, and easily changable too.

Thanks,
Roger
