Haven't had a good landscape in a while, so I thought I'd volunteer one. This is a Japanese Garden scene from Corel Gallery.

1. convert to cymk mode
2. duplicate black channel
3. convert back to rgb
4. load black channel as selection
5. impressionist (textured dirty brush--custom preset). deselect
6. pattern fill layer in soft light.

Thanks Amy. I've really fallen in love with using that cymk mask trick with impressionist. This picture was perfect for it. :happy:

We just spent the whole day putting our own water feature in. Will take about 25 years to look like your pic. Thanks for showing. Sorry. Here it is. I'm pooped!

One tiny critique tho.

To me, these gardens are about a celebrations of life and harmony with nature and the universe.

Your picture is a little bit umm ahh 'dingy' muddy and dark. It's beautiful, but also a little depressing.

I did mine with the thought "serenity."

Various layers, buzz, xero lineart, VP oil, and a slight gaussian blur.

I used Painter 8 conte crayon, then to Photoshop for watercolor, spatter(2x), find edges filters. Very large blur brush to soften with one stroke. Photo filters.

Kiska--painter is making my "to-do" list for the summer.

Amy--you've done it again. Are you getting the mix of paint and canvas texture purely from VP oil? Or do you have another secret you're using?

Dave--was that impressionist or do you have another method of getting that look?

Fluff--The image is dark because I used a nearly black pattern for the fill layer--I like the shadows it gave. The same steps with a light fill (WOW ricepaper) almost give the light tone you want--I tested it this afternoon. To get a truly light feel, I found I would need to invert the selection and increase brightness and contrast slightly on the black part of the image. I will admit it was a much softer feel.

Just upgraded from Elements to CS and needed something to putz around on to get acquainted with workspace. Found a lot of familiar features, used many, rejected others, and ended up with this.
