There should have been a couple of Read me files downloaded in the zip files - one called readmedo.rtf, which explains how to run the actionss included in the package, and the other called advanced.rtf which explains the methods of installing and playing other actions.

Is there a particular action you want to run? - not all can work without some modification, which involves access to either Photoshop or the Photoshop demo (PS6 demo is useful as it doesn't expire, and while it can't save docments it can save actions and styles)

Hi Susan
Tnx for your reply....I must have mislaid (lost/deleted) the Readme file so I downloaded HP again and read the "Readmedo.rtf" file but can't find the advanced.rtf......but...... what I am really hoping to do is to use new Elements compatible actions as I find them; without too much fuss; as my computer time is limited....don't know if this will be possible.

My hope in issuing the Actions tool was that action developers would see it was possible to run actions in Elements and use the tool as a means of developing stuff for Elements users. I have been quite disappointed by the general response. I think other Elements users should be too.

My suggestion is to send email to those who have actions that you'd like to use and tell them that MANY Elements users would like the opportunity to use them too. Point to the HPA download, and feel free to tell them I am willing to assist. Without the support of a larger community, it will be very difficult to make this successful -- and it should be.

While some have been interested and helpful (Danny Raphael in particular) I suspect many action writers feel hamstrung by the lack of knowledge and ability to test in Elements. I'm planning to get a copy of CS soon and having been a Elements user for quite a while now I'm hoping that I may have the time/ability to do something. My drawback is that I don't tend to use actions, but deal with images one at a time so I'm not sure what people want in terms of actions.

There are many things that useful actions can accomplish. For example, if you use the tools from Hidden Elements, all of what they do is accomplished using actions. That is, find something you can do to ANY image and make that into an action, and you have something useful to use all the time! It isn't always obvious. For example, i will finally be releasing the Hidden Power Dynamic Image tool, and it will be accompanied by a tool for basic coor correction (to use preceeding the DI). The point is to lead people through corrections. If it works for any image, you might as well set up a procedure...and that's what actions can accomplish.
