We've had many examples of member tutorials being improved after feedback from other members, but that "I'm afraid my ignorance would finally be exposed" poll result still bugs me.

So, I have an experiment in mind.

I'd like someone (or a few someones) to try writing a tutorial on something they admittedly don't know much about. Heck, link to this thread if it helps takes the sting out. Then as feedback starts coming in start refining and developing it until we have a great tutorial (or a few great tutorials) all done by folk who started out not even knowing what they were tutorializing about.

Find something that interests you but totally mystifies you, then work backwards. Don't be afraid of ridicule, this really isn't that kind of place. And don't be afraid to publish it incomplete (that's pretty much essential for this). And if it never does pan out (which I highly doubt will be the case) just pm me and I'll delete all evidence.

Sure, I have a vested interest in getting more tutorials posted. But mostly I want to demonstrate my "learn through teaching" technique which is almost exclusively responsible for whatever slight claim to knowledge I might have.

I would like to second that. All the tutorials I have done (I have only done a few) are works in progress and have all been a great learning experience!

It might even be easier to do it and learn it than not ...
