Have just recived and tried to install. I followed the directions explicitly (or maybe not) but nothing appears in the Effects pallette. There seems to be some question regarding which Unzip program to use. There is nothing in the Read only file other than to recommend one if you don't have one.

Bob - this question is extensively dealt with in the section of the forum devoted to Hidden Elements stuff ( I missed this question as i don't usually check this area of the forum).

What system are you using? Mac or Windows? if on the Mac OSX you *Have* to use an Unzipper other than stuffit expander, (which by default Safari seems to use)
The most helpful discussion if the issue for Mac OSX seems to be this thread:

Hope there's something helpful there.

You have to be clear about what you tried as far as trouble-shooting and what failed. Usually what happens is that people don't follow what is instructed -- even if it is supposed. The obvious thing is that the tool works (or I wouldn't have distributed it), the less obvious is what possible variation might you be making of the install. If your folder shows up as mend+, it is likely that you have a subfolder with the Mend name inside the mend+ folder...move the files out -- or copy out the folder and delete the mend+. Some people have wacky problems like multiple installations of Elements -- and they install the tools where they SHOULD go and then access the other installation.

In other words, there is no EASY answer...while I have tried to make installation easy, I am foiled by inconsistencies between systems. If you continue to have trouble, please call me 9-5, M-F at 716-691-2800 x.116

I don't have a home phone to give out....

Richard, the Mend folder is in the appropriate Effects folder.
I'm sure that the tool works as you say and that it has been fully tested, like your other creations. But you do seem to take a certain umbrage with users having problems.

I have a lot of things to answer, and very little time. I have tried to cover installation problems in many places and many ways -- you might guess that I am seeing no new problems. What you might consider resentment is just plain getting to the point...I admit it can sound a little abrupt at times. The only thing I have issue with is that the only thing that gets posted are the problems -- and being in marketing to some degree, I can't imagine that these issues (which are out of my control) shed a positive light on what I am doing. That is discouraging.

Can you confirm that your files are in the right place:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 2\Previews\Effects\Mend\Mend.atn
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 2\Previews\Effects\Mend\Mend.psd
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 2\Previews\Effects\Mend\Mend_Setup.atn
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 2\Previews\Effects\Mend\Patron_Info.atn

You can do this quickly by running the following at a command line:
Dir "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 2\"/A:D/A:A/S/B>C:\spoolto.txt" [originally left off the closing quote]

forward me the resulting file (spoolto.txt)

What did you use to unzip the files?

I unzipped the original file using Pkunzip.

I have verified that the appropriate files are properly located. Was not successful in creating the spool.txt file.

I won't be on a PC again till Monday. Here is a list of ZIP utilities:

Something here must work. The problem is the utility. it is either not fully unzipping the files (it may just unzip one level instead of multiple levels) or it is not unzipping correctly. I have been using ENZIP for years now with no trouble, but apparently that has been taken down...and it is a shame. Any PC users want to shed some light on what they have used successfully? Many people must be getting it to work or I'd be getting a LOT more complaints!

If you are still having trouble Monday (June 21), send me the files here: rlynch@pledgemaker.com

I will unzip and rezip with another utility.

You may have used WinZip, but what version? If it was version 6 there may be a difference from version 8...Please forward the files, I never received them. I do not work on a PC that has Elements installed at home, and I need those files so I can check to see that they are either viable or not. Please forward as requested. I don't like keeping problems hanging, and I have offered two means of getting it taken care of...Lets get it done.
