I scan a lot of magic lantern slides. Some of them are in mahogany frames and the image can be up to 0.5 inch from the scanner glass. They are also 4 inch by 7 inch in size and hold the transparency lid back. I have never found this a problem with my trusty HP4C scanner with transparency lid.

I'm afraid the HP might die on me any day as its 7 years old and it only gives me 600 dpi. I would like to move up to a lot high resolution scan.

Can anyone suggest a transparency scanner to meet my needs? Price is not a major issue.
