Hi Magpie,
Welcome to RP. You will find many suggestions and examples here from the wonderful people that are all willing to help.
I'm sure others will take a go at your photos very soon. I have downloaded it also, so i will be seeing what i can do later this morning.

I just took a shot at the color photo. I created a new blank layer, then filled it with the color cast taken from the shirt of the boy. This was then inverted, and the blending mode was set to color dodge.

Hi Magpie, welcome to RP. As regards your first image, the one with the baby, nice job. However the RH side of the baby's face as you look at it is a bit overblown. A little less contrast with your levels, or a curves adjustment layer would sort it out.

I just spent 15 minutes with the airbrush. How does this look to an objective viewer?

Oops, forgot to say that Magpie's work looks pretty good other than this one small area. I think the color photo looks very nice. Just how did you correct the color?

On the colour photo, you seem to have lost a lot of detail in the shadow areas. When I played around with the original there seemed to be a lot more stuff there that doesn't show up in your after shot. How did you go about fixing the colour?
