Hi all. OK, so I installed my new copy of photoshop CS and WOW! It is so much faster than photoshop 7!! I'm liking it so far. Only problem is the new editing window that comes up when you're working with filters (e.g., crosshatch, etc). For some reason, the right side of the window (along where the control sliders are) gets cut off (abruptly). So first of all, I'm not sure I'm losing some of my controls at the far right of the screen, and second of all, sometimes the sliders themselves are cut off at the upper ends so I can't set the filter to the maximum setting.

Does anyone have any clues about why this might be happening? using the minimize/maximize window button doesn't help, and it doesn't allow me to grab the edge of the window and pull it out further.

any help you might have for me would be MOST appreciated!!!

Check your screen resolution, its supposed to be 1024x768 pixels. If that does not work, then someone else will have to come up with the correct answer! :classic:

Just a random guess but try pressing F for fullscreen a few times and see if that nudges it. You should be able to save your workspace too.

Hello again -- Well, resetting my screen resolution worked (THANKS!!), but now everything on my screen is quite teeny weenie.... Is this how it's supposed to be at this resolution? I'll need to get some reading glasses...

Ok, so now that I changed my screen resolution, the print is amost too small. Are newer monitors calibrated such that higher res settings don't result in microscopic text? The monitor I have is a dell 18 inch (i think) CRT.

I have exactly the same problem with Photoshop CS. Changing the screen resolution is no good - I have enough trouble seeing the screen as it is.

Is it possible to diable the filter gallery and go back to the old screens used in previous versions? At the moment I cannot use the texturizer filter because options to the right of the screen are missing.

You should be able to change the font size used by all programs in the Windows display properties.

Right click on the desktop - select properties and under the appearance tab you should have a font option.

Well, there's no 'correct' way of turning it off, but there is a handy workaround that I heard the other day...

You have to have an old version of Photoshop to make this work. Find the old separate filters from the old version, and copy them into their own folder - called 'Separate Filters' or something. Now put that folder in CS's plugins folder. When you next restart Photoshop, you'll find in the filters menu all your separate filters, plus the filter gallery.

That sounds like a good idea. Will give it a try.

Well last night I copied just the old texture filter into the Plugins folder and it seemed to work ok - the old dialogue box came up. But this morning it was back to the filter gallery .............

I have now copied the texture filter and the cutout filter to to the plugin folder. The texture filter is coming up with the old dialogue box but cutout goes into the filter gallery.

It could just be that it is too early in the morming for me to get anything right!!

I know this isn't a practical solution, but you could do what I did and buy a bigger monitor, I got a 22" CRT and love it. These old eyes just can't focus as good as they used to. LOL

Regarding the screen res problem good luck. I run my CRT for Photoshop at 1600x1200 and have a heck of a time with many printed items but I use a second monitor and I run it at 1024x762. I just drag windows to the lower res for easy reading.
