Don't worry about being to critical. It's for a family member. Also, I'd love to hear how you would go about doing this so as I can compare to what I did. I'm sure your way is much better and faster. If you like I can send you the original to mess around with. The hardest part for me was the upper left corner. I was tough trying to create something that wasn't there. Actuall yI'm not done. There are some tape marks on the boys left arm. I'm not sure how to get rid of them. When I go to use the patch tool the color blends itself back to the surrounding color which is still discolored by the tape. I need help with that.

I think you did a great job! To fix the discoloration, just add a Channel Mixer adjustment layer as your top layer with "monochrome" checked and 50% Red and 50% Green.

For a first attempt, this is outstanding...

I think you did a great job for your first one. Keep up the good work. You will only get better with practice, (lots of it).
