I was watching TechTV last night and saw that cake printer you mentioned in another post. I tuned in the middle so I didn't get the guys names but it was about 2 guys who tore apart an HP printer and reassembled it onto a frame work with a shelf like slot for the cakes to be put into. They then filled the cartridges with food dye and with the use of a scanner they print a fantastic picture on this cake. The quality is incredible. They've marketed this system to bakeries all over for a mear $10,000. I have to admit when you said someone was printing on cakes I couldn't picture it but this machine was pure ingenious. I can see a great potential in this idea. Wish I could invent like that.

All I could picture was someone trying to shove a cake through that little paper slot. Out comes a pretty picture on a smooshed cake. :lol:
As for you being nuts well you could start an opinon poll in the salon if you want. The results could be interesting. :D Trying to keep up this website and an online restoration site and business can seem a little nuts to some of us you included. :dizzy:

The only difference was that this site prints on an edible rice paper and applies it to the cake but the one I saw prints directly on the cake and the photos are perfect picture quality. The site you found was actually the only way I figured you could do something like that before I saw this show last night. It was unreal.

You may have something there. No more hot irons for branding cows. Just herd them into a tight stall where a printer puts indelible ink brands on there flanks. Not bad. If I were you, after seeing what these fellows are marketing their machines for, I would hurry to the patent office. :D

Now that I'd pay to see!! How do you color balance and profile a bovine printer? Perhaps just go with sepia--except on the red ones! Tom

:lol: Hey not only could you have a basic brand but you could also have the owners picture there on the cows flank too. You would have to color correct according to breed I guess. Lights and pastels for Black Angus and black and white for gurnseys. :D

I don't have a local Kroger. :( I haven't seen them in our grocery stores yet but I can see the potential. Have you seen it in action? You have to give us a run down on the quality and taste. Do the cakes cost about the same still? Just curious.

I haven't seen it in action, it was broke when I was there :D

Those cakes are only about 5-10 $ more though and the quality is really nice...I was quite surprised. It would take a LOT of cakes just to break even, but it's a neat idea.
