View Full Version : Creative Interpretations: Packet House Mal Firth 10-07-2004, 10:01 AM Here's a copy of another slide I took over 25 years ago. It's an old packet house on the banks of the Bridgewater Canal, built by the Duke of Bridgewater around 1760 to carry coal from his mine at Worsley to the docks in Manchester.
If you like a little history with your pictures, there's a very good history of the canal at http://www.penninewaterways.co.uk/bridgewater/ Mal Firth 10-07-2004, 10:03 AM And here's my art version, using DeBono's Pen Wash action. jaykita 10-07-2004, 12:19 PM Picturesque, beautiful scenery.
This is my very own watercolor effect created from a modified impressionist pencil brush and ps7 dry brush. Lovely picture Mal. Wish I was there.
Sharpened image
Curves Adjustment layer to bring out contrast
Impressionist: Crayon: Distressed Fresco Rubbing; background : image; brush 41%
Art History Brush: soft pastel brush (stock) set to 40 pixels., brushed over whole image.
Added mist over the water with MF Misty Glow action.
Cheers
Dave Thoroughly enjoying your photos Mal, thank you again. I like your unusual rendition Pen Wash. Jaykita - Terrific and colourful effect. Duv - You got a rare result.
I essentially fiddled with a lot of filters so can't recall them all now. However, ended up applying Impressionist, Stamp/Dry Rag.
Cheers Just tried to get the mood right...
- Used CG Lineart to get a good line drawing;
- Screened this together with a normal grayscale version to get a clear-cut base to work on;
- Applied gradient maps calibrated for each color, and painted the masks to colorize;
- Blended in another copy of the base, as overlay, to increase the contrast.
...Hey, stop it Mal, I'm almost starting to miss England!

You'd just lurv the weather here byRo, the only difference between winter and summer this year was the rain was marginally warmer in the "summer". :knockedou
Thanks everyone for some great interpretations yet again. ...... the rain was marginally warmer in the "summer"....
Rain? Wot's rain?? Been about three months now.......
Rô Here was a different way of applying the Art History Brush.
Duplicated background
Optipix: Select Edges: Fine Detail
Unmask Sharp: 137/.7/0
Deselect: Curves Adjustment to increase contrast
Reselect: MT layer, fill with 95% White
Hide Marching Ants: Cntl-D
Paint over with Trimoon Watercolor Preset Brush, I used 23 pixel , 50% opacity
Painted over several times. (I can't remember if I inverted selection and painted more)
Curves Adjustment to bring out more contrast.
Cheers
Dave ahutton 10-14-2004, 07:59 PM This image turned out great until I reduced it for size. It involved buzz, PSP8 impressionist brush, and a couple other things. The second is a detail from the larger pic.

Hi Amy,
Doesn't take too much imagination to see that a full-sized print of this would be a real winner. Put me down for a copy, OK? :bigthmb:
