Hi all!

I have another question: has anyone here ever gotten freelance work off an online site? And does anyone here know of any good websites to obtain work?

Thanks in advance for any help!

For Elance, click on Elance Online to get to the place where you can view freelance job postings.

Hi,
Does anyone know how difficult it is to get business from being on a site like this.
Do you just post your profile and wait??
Thanks

Hi,
You must to upload your resume, and portfolio samples.
Then you must to browse daily to see if there's a project matching your skills.
If you think a project is for you, you must to send your proposal to that client and wait.

Elance and Guru both are difficult to get jobs. If you bid too low, people feel you are incompetent, bid too high and you loose the bid for the job. You can place profiles and portfolios online and they are ALWAYS good for visibility, but you have to have something that make people look at you.

I'm a professional graphic artist. I also know that there are really big name companies that have pee-ons monitoring the job bids and will swoop in and take the job. They look great with experience and porfolios. Of course this is from a graphic design stand point. I'm not sure if retouching has the same amount of competitivness.

I would work on what makes you a better choice than others, what are your strong points and how will you market them to stand out.

Its a thick market out there, but hang in there
