I overlayed the original with a sepia coastal sunset image, masked out some areas over the lighthouse building. Duplicate of original - line art multiply mode followed by texture.

I was looking at the link you provided (Thank you Danny!) for the “Pen and Ink” Sketch firstly and admired John’s result very much also. Jeff – Like your result a great deal. Like the colouring and the “feel” of it. Xaran – interesting and very pleasing result.


Selected the sky area and filled with a new one.
Selected the water and applied FP Flood filter
Duped the image twice

Image 1 – applied a brush stroke

Image 2 – Glowing Edges/Decol/Inverted
Added a new raster layer and placed at the bottom
Layer 1 – Transparency filter to remove the white
Copied and pasted outline onto first image with brushstroke.
Mode/Multiply/36%
Merged all – duped layer
Screen Mode – 50% Merged
AIM/USM
Darkened edges/Cropped Image/Masked on
new white bg/added texture

On this image of the Lorain Lighthouse I did the following:
1. Polaized the image and adjusted with levels to suit
2. Made a cut out layer
2. Created a sketch Layer and eliminated white
3. Overlayed the cut out with the sketch
4. Brought back some of the details for example the boats ports and eliminated some of the images that were on the retaining wall
5. In the polarize image there were clouds so I just brought them out more using a cloud brush.

Used the technique 'Everything New Is Old Again' , out of the current NAPP Photoshop mag. Also added colored layers, apply image, and displace to try to achieve a polaroid transfer look.
