I am posting my second thread here for critiqueing. I am pretty happy with the results I got here.

This is my first photo restoration project from a client. My income comes from web design so I am an intermediate Photoshop user. Please tell me what I have done wrong. I want to be a pro at this.

Oh yes. I forgot to say what I did.

I used the channel mixer to convert the image to grayscale. The blue channel was trashy. I also used the healing brush heavily and a small dose of Dust & Scratch removal and finally a High Pass sharpening on a duplicated layer with a blending mode set to Soft Light.

In the lower left corner, morie pattern or fingerprint?

I only had about 15 minutes to analyze and work on this to see if I could render something acceptable. I wish I had more time to spend. There is still some yellow cast and the background needs work. But this is what I came up with by using masks and blurring, cloning, and channel mixing. When I was finished, the blue channel was still a mess, so I slightly sharpened the red and green channels then blurred the blue channel the sum of what I had sharpened the other two.

When I get more time tomorrow, I will work on it some more.

BTW, you did a nice job. Work a bit on lessening the red and getting rid of some of the noise/grain without losing detail. But who am I to talk? I only played around. Mine isn't nearly as good as yours in the restoration dept.

I am glad you commented on the red cast. I added that but apparently it is too strong. I will dial it back a bit before printing it. I also thought the background could be improved a bit, but haven't done anything because of the time/budget constraints of the client. But then again, perhaps he won't mind abit of my time given on the house!
