Just about every dimension of photoshop or Painter or PhotoPaint or [insert name of your program here] uses layers.

For many rookies the concept of layers takes a while to gel.

Danny, I have a fair understanding of layers but checked out the above tut. Just seeing that he used an actual palette, etc. as his image is classic and to the point. Wonder why nobody did that the first SEVERAL months I was struggling with the layer concept. Humph!
