I hate wasting paper.

Photoshop offers two features for printing multiple images on a page: Contact Sheet II and Picture Package. Both are available from the File Browser Automate menu (Photoshop CS) or from the File > Automate submenu (Photoshop 5.5 and up).

The Contact Sheet II command in Adobe Photoshop can automatically create and place a series of thumbnail previews on a page.

Picture Package is a handy part of Photoshop and Photoshop Elements that gives you a quick and easy way of printing, literally, picture packages of various-sized photos on single pages.

Both commands rely on a plug-in called ContactSheetII. The version of the plug-in that shipped with Photoshop 7.0 contains a flaw that can cause Photoshop 7 to stop responding if either command is used with a layout directory that contains certain non-image files. There is an updated plug-in that corrects this problem.

Basically....

Use Contact Sheet II if you want...
create a sheet of thumbnail photos, or
all the images the same size, or
every image to be unique, or
to print the file name below the image.

Use Printer Package if you want ...
to mix different sizes of images on the same page, or
multiple copies of the same image, or
to mix different sizes and different images, or
a text overlay printed on the image (can include custom text, filename, description, copyright, credit, or title).

To apply Picture Package in PhotoShop CS select:
File>Automate>Picture Package

You can browse to select your image or have PhotoShop use your front most open document.

To insert an individual image into the format frame, just double-click in the empty frame. This will send you to the navigation window where you can select any image on your hard disk. You won't be limited to images from a particular folder.

Photoshop will resize each image to fit its chosen frame.

Select from several layouts or you can also customize your own.
