hello all
I am trying to restore a old photograph for some dear friends of mine .The original photo that they gave me is only 1.5 x 2 inches in size (which I have to guard with my life because its the only one they have of them at that time in there lives). Anyway I scanned it into photoshop at 1200 dpi and am working on it and things are going pretty good using mainly the healing brush and the clone stamp.If you have any ideas that may help me along I would be grateful.I could rescan it and start over if you think I am going in the wrong direction so far.

Just a quick tip. Never work on the original scan. That way if you mess up the restoration, you won't have to rescan it. Worst case scenario would be that you don't have the original to rescan if you had to. Keep that original scan intact.

I think you're doing a good job on the damage. I lightened the shadow on the right side (as you see it) of his nose, and lightened the skintones a little. Also added a small amount of noise because his skin looked too smooth to me.

You're welcome Dakota. The thing that makes this place so special is that in the four years or so I've been here, there's only been a couple of posts that were less than polite. We have several people with real talent, and I've been able to retain a little information from them. When I retain something, that means we have some very good teachers. :) If I ever get to be good, that will mean the teachers are "magical"! Welcome aboard.
