Here's a picture of my son (age 2 at the time) eating a campfire roasted marshmallow off the stick. I liked how these sketches turned out so I thought I'd share them. Please post your comments or your own interpretations.

Color version (I was pretty sloppy documenting the filter settings for layer B. Sorry.)
A: BG
B: copy BG, GBlur 7, Spatter, Add Noise, ColorPencil, Ripple
C: Levels Adj. 0, 1.25, 210
D: copy BG, Desaturate, HighPass 3, GBlur 1.5. linear light, 18% opacity (rescues the catch-light in his eyes)
E: copy D, (Be sure foregnd & backgnd colors are B&W) TornEdges 25,9,14. Multiply, 38% opacity
F: New, fill with pattern (wax crayon on sketch pad). Overlay, 25%

Variant: Between layers D & E add a Hue/Sat layer and a new empty layer on top of that. Use the adjustment layer to desaturate the color (Sat. -45). On the empty layer, I painted in bluer eyes with a soft round brush using Pastel Cyan from the default color swatches palette. I set the layer to Color, 16% opacity. (These changes were suggested by my wife. She likes this better than the high saturation version. I like them both. I guess it depends on the look you want which way you go.

B&W version (layers D&E are the same as in the color version). I like this a bit better than either of the color versions.

A: BG,
B: copy BG; GBlur 7; Desaturate; GNoise 8; Waterpaper 6,65,60; AngledStrokes 50,15,3
C: Levels Adj. 0, 1.25, 210
D: copy BG, Desaturate, HighPass 3, GBlur 1.5. linear light, 18% opacity
E: copy D, TornEdges 25,9,14. Multiply, 38% opacity
F: New, fill with pattern (parchment). Overlay, 22%

Your son is very adorable. I like your renditions with the exception of number 3, the all white one. He's too cute to make him so ghostly don't you think?
