Does anyone else have trouble dealing with shadows & tone when repairing facial features by flipping the image? Is there a magic formula to correct the shadows :chinese: ?

Hi Darren,

....I know I have ..... :o:
I don't think there is a magic formula to correct this.... what I usually do is copy the 'flipped' part on its own Layer and, with the help of layer masks, Levels/Curves and different blendings, I try to blend it in with the rest of the picture...

I like using high frequency and low frequency in the 'Lum channel'.

Use favorite method to extract Lum.
For the high, use High Pass and flip it over. Leave it for now.
For the low, use Gauss and flip it over.
Gross painting over the Gauss copy for major highs and lows.
I like to flip between Normal and Lum blending modes for this.
Eventually clip the High Pass copy, set to Linear Light, and lower Opacity as needed.
Various cleaning along the way, like Layer Masks, clipping groups, and things.

If you can get the Lum to look good, the rest should fall into place without too much fuss.

Legacy, Lum stands for Luminosity.
