Hi everyone, Danny said it was ok for me to post a photo for you to play with so here it is.

This is Croxteth Hall, Liverpool. Home of the Earl of Sefton until his death in the late 1970's. Hope you have fun with this. I can't wait to see what everyone does.

I've attached my effort too. I started in Painter with the wet oil clone then imported into PSCS to adjust the levels and applied the Impressionist fingerpaint filter.

Speaking of which did you know you can install Impressionist inside Painter's plugins folder and use it from there? :)

I started by enlarging the image to 12" x 12". I like to have a lot of pic to work with.

Sometimes I think I get a little too carried away and this one might be an example of that. It ended up with 15 layers including the background. This is a result of having no idea where I was going when I started, so I just kept trying this and that until it was time for lunch... a logical stop time, right? :)

I didn't know you could install Impressionist into Painter but I'm going to do that right now. Thanks for the tip.

I love what you did with the photo. The colours are lovely, bright but soft. I'm going to keep working and playing around with mine I think. Or maybe just start another one.

I forgot to say in my original post, I didn't take the photo. It's a scan from a magazine our local council distributes. I have taken some good ones of this place (it's 10 minutes walk from where I live so we go there a lot) but not as nice as this one.

I started with buzz 2 at 100, then PSP8.1 rough leather texture, with the color set to a bright orange, and the contrast and blue turned down to 3 and 4.

Adjusted curves.
Adapt.eq, less the sky.
Simplified.
Paint engine.
Hue & sat adj.
Contrast adj.
Loosely selected hall and removed blue cast on windows and trim.
Nik brilliance and warmth.
Xero Clairity.
Sketchmaster for border.

Thank for playing everyone. Its so interesting to see how many different pieces of art can come from the same photo. I love them all, but I particularly like what you did Lqqker. It looks like a pencil sketch to me.

Legacy - this is in West Derby, suburbs of Liverpool and just 10 minutes walk from my house !

I ran a sketch action on the photo which has several stops. At any rate I included some of the foreground color. Initially I used Photoshop CS Image Adjustments shadow highlights to lighten up the relatively dark hall. The action is called "Isabel's_Pastel_Sketch" which I uploaded on this site yesterday.

Tried to simply emphasize the foreground colors while retaining bckgr detail.
This i did with the help of layer masks and channel selections.

Hi Pam,

Here's my attempt at your photo. I scanned in a geometric design and turned it into a Selection. I copied this to its own Layer and applied some Layer Styles to it, Bevel Drop, shadows, Outer Glow.

I then partially Desaturated the Background Layer adjusted the Hue and applied a Radial Blur.

Cloned in Painter 8.1 using:-

Oils/Detail Oils Brush 10 and Fine Camel 10 on Tree and Floral Bushes.
Liquid Ink/Depth Bristle on building (excluding windows)
Cloners/Soft Cloner to put back window details.
Ditto................... to put back ground, bushes, people details.

Con, you've outdone yourself on this one. A very, very unique interpretation.
