Mine was kind of quick, it was filter - artistic - dry brush!

I wish i had one of those wacom tablets!

Your daughter Jennifer is very pretty lady, she got a lovely smile for sure and happy eyes, adorable!

Shes adorable so i did a porcelain look and a smooth look these are just actions, right now i am downloading the trial version of painter!

What a pretty lassie Amy. This was a pleasure to do and a challenge which I enjoy thoroughly. It required retouching firstly to remove the glint (by cloning) in both eyeglasses and re-emphasise Jennifer's eyes. Secondly, there's a reflection of her dark hair on her right side reflecting in her glasses. This was cloned out. Thirdly, the photo is badly compressed so I smudged it entirely. Selected and added Jennifer to a new canvas with a dry brush bg. Used the eraser to soften edges. Added a mask and cropped the image.

Done entirely in PaintShopPro8.1

I like both attempts so far, but yours, Neve, is spectacular.

Jen has Down Syndrome and her birth parents were from Taiwan. My 11 year old is way taller than she is.

Always nice to meet another member of the family!

Substituted a new backdrop, cloned over some of the eyeglass glare, combined the Rough Pastels filter with a layer that had been blurred to add the "skin glow". Added a lighting effect to the backdrop.

It was a pleasure. I had a Down Syndrome cousin and seeing Jennifer brought back happy memories for me.

This was my take on it, but I don't like it. Can't remember what I did, but it involved impressionist,VP and a bunch of layers.

One of these days, follow in Axle's footsteps and consider putting together a tutorial on this method. It's that good...

1. Fixed the flash reflection glare.
2. Isolated Jennifer from the background.
3. Applied the Manju method on the curtains (Motion Blur, Spatter, Unsharp Mask).
4. On a copy of Jennifer (isolated): Impressionist custom style Unsmudged Color **
5. On another copy of Jennifer (isolated): Photoshop Dry Brush. Added a Hide All Layer Mask and airbrushed to reveal eye, glasses, mouth, nose detail
6. Applied Imp > Unsmudged Color ** to the Manju background for a more consistent appearance.
7. Merged visible and added a stroke frame.

** Among the Impressionist settings I like is Conte > Unsmudged Monochrome which, by default, renders in grayscale. But if you open the Color panel and change the Stroke Color setting to Image, color is drawn from the image (like most other settings), which I like even better. So I created a custom setting for this one, Unsmudged Color.
