View Full Version : Beautiful Redhead... Legacy~Art 01-27-2005, 04:51 AM I found this picture on a site called mkfreephoto...
Reflections are hard to do, so show me how you can keep the reflection and make this pretty redhead happier...
Any program can be used! Legacy~Art 01-27-2005, 05:08 AM A friend of mine emailed me as he is abit of an expert on turning photos into paintings, giving someone a few tips in an email is hardly going to fullfil my life is it, but this is what i was told.
Take the picture you want to turn into a painting and in photoshop add smart blur till it looks similiar to a painting, then take it to the artistic/dry brush, then take your picture into painter using Cloners/bristle oils cloner 15, then add texture.
This is what i got... Janet Petty 01-27-2005, 06:52 AM Very nice Legacy. I like the overall feel and tone to this painting.
Janet Axleuk 01-27-2005, 07:52 AM The rendition is very nice, however the problem with using smartblur is that it does what it says on the tin, it blurs the images, so trying create detail from a blurred image is a challenge in itself, of course it that the effect you want to acheive, then great.
If you are wanting to prepare the image and enhance it prior to painting, then try using smartblur on a underlying layer first and then with the original on top of that layer using the eraser tool on a low opacity run it over the part of the image you want correcting. This will help to keep the detail but clean up the image.
In Painter, you can thn run over the image with the cloner brush, making sure it is again set to a low opacity, make sure the feature is also set to something like 1.5 - 1.9 so you can still see some bristles.
Hope this helps. jaykita 01-27-2005, 09:57 AM Here's my take. Nothing too obvious. Here's my take. Nothing too obvious.
What is obvious ?
I Love Colors and skin texture. Thank you for the photo Legacy. Lovely results from both of you...
Slightly Buzzed and then smudged. Added a slight canvas texture. sidis 01-27-2005, 11:34 PM Gothic Glow action, some blending layers. I like this and Gothic Glow effect. :bigthmb: jaykita 01-28-2005, 01:51 AM What is obvious ?

Thanks Crex. I normally like to go hammer and tongs at any given photo. :) This is my idea of "subtle". Legacy~Art 01-28-2005, 04:28 AM Axel thanks for your advice...

:) I Love PhotoART.Quality looks fine to me. I love this. Could you explain a little about what you did? Jeff L 01-28-2005, 07:31 PM Just added some speed and a smirk.... Very clever Crex, is that a little carefully placed "Constable Snow" I see??? It certainly works well. Had not heard of it until I enjoyed your tutorials. ;) Fluffbutt 01-29-2005, 01:34 AM With all the work I did on this one, it was hard to mask and keep the reflections AND still have the work done on them.
It took a few layers, each with 33, 50, 66% layer masks over the hand/arm reflections, then a few more layers to work on..
Combinations of filters and hand (well, mouse) painted effects (I like doing a filter, then removing it and painting it back in at variable transparencies).
Finally I gave her a little smile and opened her eyes a bit.
Was it worth the effort? PamSav 01-29-2005, 07:30 AM I'd say it was definately worth the effort Fluffbutt :D CJ Swartz 01-30-2005, 03:49 AM A very nice range of interpretations on this little girl.
I added a lens flare and a lighting effect to one layer to heighten the contrast in lighting and hopefully create a glowing (magical?) effect. I added a sketch layer in Hard Light mode topped by an Overlay mode where I added some light/shadows using black/white on my brush. Topped it with a dry brushed copy of the original in Overlay mode at reduced opacity. Peter S 05-05-2007, 03:24 PM Nice Pic I thought I'd have a go.
Peter Steve Conway 05-06-2007, 10:59 AM Don't know if the reflection that you wanted is still there, but here is one look.
