Or, Crocodile Dundee, Paul Hogan. T Janet Petty 03-14-2005, 09:07 AM Not a martial artist at least as far as I know. Besides I don't think Norris has black hair. And not Paul Hogan. He's blond too. Keep trying. I don't want to make this so hard that people quit guessing. Janet MBChamberlain 03-14-2005, 09:37 AM Neal Diamond? MaryLynn 03-14-2005, 10:06 AM Randy Travis? Janet Petty 03-14-2005, 10:06 AM Mr. Chamberlain you are spot on. Your turn. How did you do that so quickly? MBChamberlain 03-14-2005, 10:57 AM Lucky guesses are wonderful things. Here is the next one. I'm sure everyone knows who he is, but you may not remember him this young. MBChamberlain 03-15-2005, 12:34 PM No guesses? In his most famous roll as a young boy many of his lines began, "That's what I said..." I thought this would be a short one. MaryLynn 03-15-2005, 02:11 PM Purely a guess--Michael J. Fox? MBChamberlain 03-15-2005, 02:19 PM Younger than Fox, he has been in several major movies in the last few years. MaryLynn 03-15-2005, 03:08 PM Leonardo DiCaprio? MBChamberlain 03-15-2005, 06:57 PM Not DiCaprio. This 34yo actor started in his first movie at the young age of 13 (14 when released). MaryLynn 03-16-2005, 09:54 AM Is it Matt Damon? MBChamberlain 03-16-2005, 11:22 AM Damon is a little too "main stream." This actor was less known until he starred in a very big movie project a couple of years a go. I might say that his character caused a small problem for the director too, but it was the writing not the acting. MaryLynn 03-16-2005, 10:33 PM Your clues are great but they're not ringing any bells. I guess I don't know enough modern actors. Gary Richardson 03-17-2005, 01:32 AM Ewan Mc Gregor ? MBChamberlain 03-17-2005, 11:32 AM Less British, this actor was born in California and it took a lot of work with a dialog coach to be able to speak with a british accent for some of his recent movies. Gary Richardson 03-17-2005, 12:58 PM Macauley Culkin. Hope I've spelt that right. MBChamberlain 03-17-2005, 01:11 PM Nope, maybe he is too pixelated. Gary Richardson 03-17-2005, 01:37 PM Can see him fine now, just no idea who he is. Guess I'm not going to do so good on this one. MBChamberlain 03-17-2005, 02:26 PM He was a major part of the largest cinematic undertaking of all time. Gary Richardson 03-17-2005, 02:49 PM Which one, that does'nt thin it down much. Hollywood claims they're all the greatest cinema undertaking of all time, until the next one comes along. Knowing the film won't help me though, I can see him fine, just not too up to date on modern films, or stars. MBChamberlain 03-17-2005, 03:07 PM The greatest is debatable, but I said largest. MaryLynn 03-17-2005, 06:08 PM Is it Sean Astin? MBChamberlain 03-17-2005, 09:30 PM yes, it is sean astin at the age of 14 in the movie "Goonies" MaryLynn 03-17-2005, 10:54 PM That was a tough one with very good clues! Here's a male performer. Gary Richardson 03-18-2005, 12:54 AM No wonder I did'nt get Sean Astin, never heard of him, or "Goonies" either. Is that the "largest cinematic undertaking of all time", or is it another that I probably haven't heard of either. Groucho Marx. CJ Swartz 03-18-2005, 01:27 AM No wonder I did'nt get Sean Astin, never heard of him, or "Goonies" either. Is that the "largest cinematic undertaking of all time", or is it another that I probably haven't heard of either. I never would have guessed Sean Astin either, Gary, although I'd heard of him (as in being the son of Patty Duke/John Astin). I'm guessing that the "largest cinematic undertaking of all time" is "Lord of the Rings" rather than "Goonies", but I had to look up Astin's movie history to know that he played Frodo's loyal companion, Sam (one of my favorite characters from the trilogy -- I named my first car after him :) ). I haven't made it through the DVD version of "The Rings" yet, but I can pick up any of the volumes and go to any page, and start enjoying the adventure again... I can't think of any other stories that work like that. Gary Richardson 03-18-2005, 03:14 AM Hi CJ, another fan of Lord of the Rings here. First read it when I was 12 years old, took me 36 hours non-stop to read all 3 books. Have watched the movies, but don't rate them. I don't like the way they've re-written the story. Adding scenes that don't exist, and missing out many that do, and I don't like the way they've changed the nature of some of the characters. Like you, I often pick up the book and just dive in, still a great read, though I've read it many, many times. Getting back to the point of this thread, I did'nt know Sean Astin, but of course am old enough to remember John Astin (who could forget Gomez Addams). CJ Swartz 03-18-2005, 07:18 AM MaryLynn, not trying to hijack the thread -- just passing time until you have a chance to sleep, fix breakfast for the family, get ready for work, etc. :) and then have time to look at Gary's guess for your pixeled performer. ...another fan of Lord of the Rings here. First read it when I was 12 years old, took me 36 hours non-stop to read all 3 books..... (who could forget Gomez Addams). WOW! I hate to admit it, but it took me a LOT LONGER than 36 hours to read the trilogy -- I almost didn't finish Book One, because I didn't get interested until the journey began -- then I finally "caught on" to the style and started enjoying it. As for Gomez -- don't speak any French -- he might hear you! :!: Janet Petty 03-18-2005, 07:48 AM Tennessee Ernie Ford? David Niven? Vincent Price? MaryLynn 03-18-2005, 08:04 AM Gee, guys, you were so busy chatting away I nearly overslept. Didn't wake up until 5 AM Pacific time this morning. I have to agree with the Lord of the Rings reviews, at least as far as the books. I haven't seen the movies. Regarding our present piximage, no it isn't either Groucho or good ol' Ern although they are very good guesses. This person was once named the Best New Radio Artist for a particular year. Good morning Janet--not David or Vincent either. Gary Richardson 03-18-2005, 10:41 AM Henry Fonda? (did'nt do any radio that I know of, but then I'm hardly in a position to know anything about US radio programmes). MaryLynn 03-18-2005, 11:29 AM While he was a big star on US radio and went on to television, he was known internationally in more than one genre. Janet Petty 03-18-2005, 06:20 PM Bob Hope; Jack Benny; Arthur Godfrey??? MaryLynn 03-18-2005, 07:47 PM No, sorry none of those either. Not his native tongue, he had a lot of fun with the English language. CJ Swartz 03-18-2005, 08:05 PM No, sorry none of those either. Not his native tongue, he had a lot of fun with the English language. Well, thanks for the great hint, MaryLynn! That MUST mean Victor Borge! I loved seeing him since I was a child, and finally saw him in person not many years before his death -- a creative, wildly funny man! MaryLynn 03-18-2005, 08:17 PM CJ, that is simply twoderful. Anytwo five eleveniss? Yes, it is Victor Borge. Who would think classical piano could be so much fun?   CJ Swartz 03-19-2005, 04:27 AM ....Yes, it is Victor Borge. Who would think classical piano could be so much fun?   http://www.kor.dk/borge/b-mus-1.htm -- you can listen to his Phonetic Punctuation System or listen to him play (eventually) "Happy Birthday" as Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, Irving Berlin, etc. :lmao: The next pixel star is a female performer: MaryLynn 03-20-2005, 12:50 PM Lindsay Wagner? CJ Swartz 03-20-2005, 01:44 PM Not Lindsay Wagner -- older, and not American. Known internationally. Started acting as a child, then became known more for her singing, although she continued to star/appear in some big movies after attaining stardom in the music field. She has worked with Sir Alec Guinness, Peter Ustinov, and Fred Astaire. Is listed in VH1's 100 Greatest Women of Rock N Roll, (but you can actually understand the lyrics when she sings) and has sold more than 70 MILLION records (worldwide). She won two Grammys (USA), had at least 15 Top 40 hits in the USA, and over 150 Top 40 hits worldwide. Is still performing concerts, including benefits for UNICEF and other charities. Had her own TV show in her country, and was once named "Outstanding Woman television personality of the Year", but has only had a few specials (as far as I can tell) in the last 20 years. I didn't intend to give so much info, but until I started reading her biography, I really didn't know the extent of her versatility, the length and success of her career in music and acting -- I've known about her for many years, enjoyed her singing, and admired her personally for some actions she has taken during her life, but didn't know the rest. I figure most players here won't recognize all the tips, but some will recognize her from something I said. :) Janet Petty 03-20-2005, 03:03 PM Petula Clark? CJ Swartz 03-20-2005, 05:57 PM Petula Clark? Right again! It's Petula Clark! Your turn, Janet! Janet Petty 03-20-2005, 06:28 PM Not a performer, this man is nevertheless a legend. Gary Richardson 03-21-2005, 01:06 AM Groucho Marx? Woody Allen? Janet Petty 03-21-2005, 06:34 AM So sorry Gary. Please try again. TylerRB 03-21-2005, 07:21 AM Dick Clark? Janet Petty 03-21-2005, 08:20 AM Not Dick Clark either. You are right to think legend. Please think again. This man is deceased; but before he died, his empire was beloved by young and old alike.
