I used a art-history brush, which I modified based on a tip from Jay Arraich, and blended it with a layer of smartblur-edge only.

Nice pic. I like the angle of the shot. Inspired by Neve's lovely rendition. Here's an infrared effect with a hint of Impressionist.

I *LOVE* the picture!

I went for a post-impressionist look, sans strokes.

Used adaptive equalization, and a lot of stuff to change colors and add/subtract detail. (Paint Shop Pro Edge Preserving smooth, Adobe variations, Polaroid Dust&Scratches, Paint Shop Pro Salt&Pepper, AmphiSoft Convolution Shaman, buZZ, ???)

i got almost run over by a tram while taking that photo... unfortunately, almost all sights in prague can be shot in interesting angle only while standing in the middle of the road :lol: here's a small view of the whole national theatre... front shot is almost impossible... there's a river there ;) :

Jaykita, the frames come bundled with PSP8 :grin: Love your result, very pleasing.

Duv - Great result - it's fun experimenting. I just used the User Defined Filters in PSP8.1 (7x 7 laplacian ??)

JCH - Well done - I like using the AE filter quite a bit.

JustChecking, I'm very glad you survived your photo-taking adventure. I Buzzed your photo, ran VP on watercolor w/ stucco background, made 2 layers w/ one in softlight blend, then put an edge mask on it.

Hi,

Hope you like my rather tardy attempt.

I sellected the sculpture and copied it to a new Layer. I then created a Gradient Map Adjustment Layer, merged them when I saw a result I liked and ran the Radial Blur filter over that.

Finally I used the Render Lighting Effects again on the Background to emphasise the sculpture.

For the final step I used a Mask on the Sculpture Layer to help merge the two into one image.

Thanks for the great photo, JC. I tried your game of making an AHB mess (well, an Elements2 "Impressionist Brush" mess, same tool I think, but it only works on a real layer, not a hidden snapshot). I've yet to get anything likeable from this tool. So, here too, I had to add a bunch of other effects (random walk mode - don't ask for a "how to"), to try and get something interesting. I still didn't like the look, so I put it aside. Today, playing with different layers on/off, blending modes, etc, I chanced upon something agreeable. I think the AHB layer is off, however. :grin:

So far, I especially like the creations from Duv, Raniday, and Con L.

Con - I think your image could go from great to awesome if you blend the edges of the statue (esp the chariot rider) into the background some more.

Con, I'm really captivated by your creation! It has such a powerful, mythical quality to it, like the gods exploding out of the sky. It seems reminiscent of something I've seen before but I can't put my finger on it. Maybe "Back To The Future?"

J.C. Great photo. I just took a quick digital camera course offered by the local art league (and taught by a fantastic photographer) and she stressed the need to bend, twist and contort to get the great shots and always have a spotter to keep you from stepping into traffic! LOL

Con.. That is just too cool! The radial spokes adds so much. As said before, it has power and depth beyond just a painterly rendering. Taking an idea from you, I've done a variation.

yeah, i'm always impressed by the power of perspective... when i sometimes start doubting that ('cause it doesn't seem so through the view-finder, does it? ;) ), i rem the 2 photos i took few weeks ago [see the attachment]... and there was enough to kneel for the left one, and cross the street for the right one :D it's not that visible in this small pic, but it looks like 2 different sculptures in full size :dizzy: ;)

L :lol: L... yeah, that'd come in handy... well, i've been in the middle of the road, but that's like "tram only" zone... i just didn't expect one to go around at that moment :)

Great photo! I love architectural photos and sculptural pieces. I've not seen many challenges on perspective, but some "great" shots often need some bending and twisting of their own to set the story "straight".
