Aww this is so cute, i had to add him, recently i stayed at my friends house, and she was alittle frightened as her house had a mouse, not a welcomed visitor, lending a friends cat for the weekend, to help her out, reminds you just what cats are for, to work, to catch mice, and to look very cute! :cat:

Do you see a KUTE KITTY or a KILLER KAT?

Supurb closeup and cropping on this one.

From the Layers Palette snapshot I hope the evolution makes sense...

I did something a little unusual this time. Instead of using Smart Blur/Edge Only or Find Edges as a source of edge detail, I used two effects from the Virtual Painter plugin: Collage and Drawing. Each renders black lines amongst vibrant colors. See the attachment for how I extracted "just the lines" from each layer.

"Lines" Layer 1 and "lines" Layer 2 were merged into Layer 3. I might have used just Layer 3 for the lines, but I thought "all black" looked out of place.

So, I Ctrl + clicked on Layer 3's thumbnail in the Layers Palette, to "load the selection" (marching ants appear). Then I clicked on the original Background and Ctrl + J to create a layer of colored lines based on the selection.

This was a quickie...

I used the pattern maker, using a selection of the fur on Kitty's nose as my pattern. That became my background. Then I adjusted the opacity of Kitty. No biggie this time. :)

I thought it best to keep kitty looking somewhat normal....

I adjusted levels and curves and overlayed a bit of a brown texture to it and turned down the Opacity to about 20%.

Photoshop watercolor filter - my observation - if u gaussian blur the image (approx 3) before applying the filter (approx 6-8,0,1) you get a better wc effect (in my opinion)
For this one, i also used custom filter to sharpen, texture sandstone.

K, I took your image (hope you dont mind), desaturated it, and applied usm (78,250,0) and (according to me) it was a perfect pencil sketch effect.
Thank You, you've given me a brilliant idea!!

Ok, I just got my Graphire3, and I don't think I'll ever use a mouse again for anything. I also got Photoshop Elements and Painter Essentials, so I've been busy playing with them as well. Lots of fun choices now. Anyway, for Peepers here I used Photoshop Elements and used the sponge filter, and two blend mode layers, multiply and color dodge. I varied the opacity, and finally used the Impressionist Brush, with one of the drop shadow brushes. Hope you like. Have to go to sleep now, as I can't keep the eyes open any longer. :dizzy: Night night all.
P.S. I loved everyone's work as usual, but Sidis, I really love the Goth Cat.

Oh Danny, whatever are you waiting for? Even a used 4x5 on e-Bay would be great. I feel like a little kid in a candy store. Everytime I play with a new brush, I get a whole new flavor of sugar. :dizzy:

Nice work with your first ever tablet. I have the same one and same size it has become a valuable tool for alot of techniques. Don't forget to program your switch on the side of the pen!

Trying out some filters from here.....

Mehdi plugins (http://www.mehdiplugins.com/english/edgesfx.htm)

This was Edges Fx, aniso'd and multiplied.
High key levels and multiplied the shadows back in.
Tweaked with Mehdi's HSL Plus

Being new here I am being spurred on by all of you to try out different morev capabilities in Photoshop CS than I have before. Here then is my second humble submission. It is a simple version, quick to do in that I just used Ripple, then Gaussian blur. Tell me more, puleeze!

Good for you for jumping on your #2 project so quickly, George. I admire your enthusiasm.

Here's a combination that should work pretty well on this one:
* Artistic > Dry Brush (for an arty look) followed by
* Brush Strokes > Spatter (to rough up the edges a bit)

Peepers is a great model. No movement no meowing...just sitting there like a good kitty.

Both of these renditions were done with the pattern stamp.

This first one is peepers painted with oil brushes all on one layer.

The second is dry brushes on 4 seperate layers with assorted blending and opacity settings on each.
