Well, I guess my shyness left pretty quickly, 'cause here I am again with another image to share!

I am so mesmerized with the Impressionist plugin that I cannot stop applying it to images. I came up with this soft pastel, feathery-type rendition of this gorgeous bird, and thought it would make another great picture for everyone to try.

I made a copy of the background, gaussian blurred it; made a few more copies of the background and applied several impressionist styles. Then changed the blend modes and added a final levels adjustment layer in lighten mode to give a more pastel look to the image. I just love soft, ethereal effects in images.

Now if I can only get my hands off Photoshop, shut down my computer and go to bed!! :lmao:

Glad you liked my rendition. I wish I could exactly remembered what styles I used in combination so that I could duplicate it on other images! That always happens to me -- something comes out surprisingly good and I don't remember all the steps I did exactly. :blush:

Exceptionally pretty bird, Sweet... almost too pretty to mess with, but I couldn't resist.

Left half: Alien Skin Classic Mosaic filter

Right half:
* Above the Alien Skin layer added a Threshold adjustment layer to get a pure B/W image of random titles
* Click on Channels tab
* Alt + Click on RGB channel to create a selection (marching ants)
* Back to Layers Palette
* Select > Inverse (this selects the tiles, not the white portions of the image)
* Turn off Threshold adjustment layer (click eyeball)
* Click on Alian Skin Layer
* Ctrl + J - copy selected tiles to another layer
* Put a new layer below this one and fill with white
* Back to isolated tiles layer, play with Layer Style effects
* Image > Canvas Size x-Relative, set Width to 100%, click middle-left arrow to double canvas width
* Drag the Alien Skin Mosaic layer all the way to the left for side-by-side effect

Sweet-P, thanks for the lovely Gallinule photo, I've yet to see one in nature, although we have a lot of their relatives, the American Coots.

I cannot imagine it getting deleted...

a) Was it a thread you started or one in which you added your own interpretation?

b) Give me a couple search keywords. Maybe I can find it.
