5 years old May 30, 2007

On May 30, 2002 Doug Nelson, the owner/webmaster of RetouchPRO, added the Photo-Based Art forum in response to the growing interest of members in image manipulation. Since then it's been a privilege for me to have served as the moderator of this forum.

I'd like to thank Doug for all the unsung work he does behind the scenes to keep RetouchPRO going and for his continuing support of image manipulation as an artform. In addition I'd like to acknowledge my fellow RetouchPRO moderators who help keep RetouchPRO a fun, creative, safe and friendly site to visit.

Finally, I would like to recognize everyone who participates "anywhere" at RetouchPRO. Forums and gallaries without member participation are empty shells. So, "Thanks, everyone." Each of you makes a difference.

Here's to another year of photo-art fun and creativity.

Thanks to you Danny. I've only been here a week, but it's obvious that "you're the man".

Photoshop. Is it 3rd Birthday or maybe 2nd????

I may have clicked a few buttons and put the forum into place, but when it comes to the Photo-Art forums, Danny is definitely "the man".

Good catch, Annabel.

I mistyped the "born date": Should have been 2002, not 2003 = 3 years old.

Okay, here goes,.. a slightly off key, but from the heart..."Happy Happy 3rd Moderator Dayyyyyyyyyyy, Danny!" ..LOUD & Melodious, "So glad you are here!"
Second verse..."Happy Happy 3rd Moderator Dayyyyyyyyyyy, Danny!" ..LOUD & Melodious, "So glad you are here!"
Third verse..."Happy Happy 3rd Moderator Dayyyyyyyyyyy, Danny!" ..LOUD & Melodious, "So glad you are here!" Will be humming all day...these catchy verses..

A small tinker toy for you,.. maybe..

Was taking a look at the FREE ArtRage site the other day, http://www.ambientdesign.com/tutorials.html ... now that you have Painter IX..that comes with the plug in Kpt, look at the "Scatter Tutorial." Can you get those presets into our Painter"s plug in, so we can do what is shown there. Sure looks purdy...

Danny, congratulations for creating a very special place for people to exhibit their talents, share techniques, learn and explore new possibilities. You had the vision to see that the early threads created by members to do image manipulation were an indication of a true groundswell of interest in artistic interpretation of images.

Happy almost Birthday to you, the Photo Art forum, and to the members who have flooded the threads with their works and their sharing of ideas.

Danny, Thank you so much for your continuing efforts!

The arty side of RetouchPRO has, to many of us, become our principal focus in these forums.
...and that doesn't mean that we're just messing around and having fun.
Often, producing good Art stretches our technique more than just "everyday" retouching.

Maybe some year we'll all get together to have the party that this deserves!
