Here's a picture I took a few weeks ago of the young boy who occasionally comes walking with me. On this occasion we went to a rocky area near Leek in Staffordshire, UK called The Roaches. The picture shows him standing on a rocky outcrop gazing towards Tittensor Reservoir eartly on in the walk.

This interpretation was created using the Art-Oils action written by Danny Raphael and is based on a technique described by Ted LaCascio in an article that can be found in the Photoshop CS supplement to the October/November 2003 edition of Photoshop User Magazine.

I don't know why, but I just had to interupt the idyllic and insert some reality.

No major techniques except extract the Stealth Bomer and insert it in the picture, but it makes a statement.

added emphasis to my favorite parts of the landscapeDitto on the "nice crop" kudo. That really gave it a panorama look.

Awesome picture, Mal. Thanks for sharing this one.

Cleverly done, Swampy, albeit a sobering reminder of some pretty fierce technology.

JC: Very painted looking. Well done.

I'm still trying to get my arms around the Wow watercolor technique##. See LP attachment for the gory detail. In a nutshell:
* Prep image (color, contrast)
* Edit > Define Pattern
* Add a new layer, fill with white (This serves as a background.)
* Duplicat the layer used for the pattern and move it above the white layer. Lower opacity to about 15%.
* Below that layer and above the white layer add a new layers. This is where the "watercolor" strokes go.
* From the Tools Palette chose the Pattern Stamp tool (it shares the same space as the Clone tool).
* If you have the WOW presets installed, choose among the Watercolor set.

IMO the WOW presets that come on the CD are the real key.

Rather than do all the painting on one layer, this time I tried a layer for the sky and background, one for the foreground and another for the dark outline-type strokes.

The texture is availabe at www.Trimoon.com.

In retrospect I may have overdone the detail on the boy, but I think I'm making progress on the overall technique. If I had a tablet it would probably look better.

~Danny~

## Described in:
* How to Wow - Photoshop for Photography
* PS7 1-Click Wow
* Photoshop 6, 7 Wow Book

It's probably in 1-Click Wow for Elements, too, but I cannot confirm that. Used editions of this book are real cheap, so it might be worth a look. Elements' tool presets, gradients, layer styles, etc. work in Photoshop as well.

Amazing results everyone. Danny, that is fantastic. When you say WOW, do you mean Painter WOW? I've just ordered a Painter WOW book, if this is the sort of result I can expect to try and achieve, I'd be chuffed!

No Painter on this one. This is totally a Photoshop technique.

But not to worry: those who learn to use Painter's watercolor brushes/layers can run circles around this.

Really nice work, Palms! I love the way you can't even tell it started as a photograph. You should print it out on some good heavy paper and put it in a frame.

great image.
the first one is from Corel Painter X, using the Smart Strokes option on two layers with some blending.
The second is using Snap Art in Photoshop CS.
