I just received this picture of my Great Grandmother from England and I don't know where to start retouching it. I would so appreciate some help on restoring this picture. :classic:

I would so appreciate some help on restoring this picture. :classic: Duv 02-15-2005, 02:45 PM Welcome Greenbriar! Your picture actually doesn't seem to be in bad shape. Your file size is only 27 KB. Can you post up to about 85 KB. A larger image will give us more pixels to work with. Cheers Dave GREENBRIAR 02-16-2005, 12:36 PM Dave: Thanks for your reply. I did resize the pict and I hope that will be alright; as the picture came to me via e-mail from England and was sized to 72 ppi. I increased the image by 10% until I reached about 85 KB. I didn't know any other way of resizing it. If I should have done something else, please let me know. Thanks for your help. Shirley Gary Richardson 02-16-2005, 02:07 PM Hi Shirley, Welcome to Retouch Pro. I've had a quick go with your picture. I've not done too much to correct it, and tried to keep the original feel of it. GREENBRIAR 02-17-2005, 11:11 AM Gary, thanks the picture is looking better already. I was wondering if there is anyway to show more contrast particularly around GGmother's face? Shirley Gary Richardson 02-17-2005, 01:26 PM Hi Shirley, adding contrast is not too much of a task, however, as there is little detail there, it will not significantly add to delineating her face. What I've done is create a new layer set to Soft Light, filled with 50% grey, then using soft black brush set to 5%, painted in darkness to areas around the girls face. GREENBRIAR 02-20-2005, 04:06 PM Gary, thanks again. I really like what you have done. I am going to send your version back to England. My cousin will be thrilled. Shirley Gary Richardson 02-21-2005, 02:05 AM Glad I could help. |
