I just ordered the Gretag/Macbeth Eye One Display 2 monitor calibration system. It's the only one I found that supports DCC (a big part of why I like my 2070sb monitors). I'll keep you posted.

Heh...feature that!

I was just looking at that before I wandered in here. I saw a link for it in my Wacom newsletter.
I look forward to your opinion on that system.

Got it today, it installed perfectly and calibrating both monitors went suspiciously easy. The only surprise is how bright it says a monitor should be. Of course, it also has an ambient light test, and it says I'm way below acceptable levels there, which probably makes a difference.

The help supplied doesn't have room for answering technical questions, so I had to send an email about some hardware-related questions. I'll see how that goes.

And the $200 coupon included (for upgrading to other hardware systems) is only good if I buy the upgraded equipment from the exact same dealer, which I wish I'd known about.

Thanks for the update Doug. Always nice to have a new "toy" arrive eh?

Wow, the Gretag support is so appalling as to take my breath away! You'd think the company was run as a hobby or something. They answer promptly enough, but the replies I'm getting are making my head spin.

One example: they don't support DCC/CI, never have, don't plan to. This in spite of the fact their own website says:

"Eye-One Display 2 is the first and only truly automated color management solution: for all monitors supporting the DDC/CI standards, there is no longer a need for manual adjustment of brightness, contrast and monitor white point. This process is now automatic and, unlike some competitive monitor calibrators, does not require an extra cable – providing a true “one button push” high quality monitor profiling solution."

The support response: "we never actually incorporated the DDC system in the software and it was never removed from the specs on the web site either."

Right now I'm trading emails with them to track down why my monitors lose the profiles on reboot. They explained to me that dual monitors aren't very common, so they may or may not be able to help me.

Perhaps I will think twice before I pull the trigger on that puppy....
