Hi, I'm new here and don't know al lot yet about retouching.
I made this photo, but what bothers me is the white line going straight to her eyes. I use PSP, I tried to remove it with the clone brush, resized the photo first (blew it up a bit), but still I'm not satisfied with the result, because you could see it was pampered with. What's the best way to accomplish this?

I do have PS7 too, but haven't found the time yet to explore it. But if you want to decribe your solution for PS7, then I think I'll be able to follow it.

Hi Titia! Welcome aboard!

I have PSP as well but find it fairly limiting compared to Photoshop for photo correction. Here's what I did quickly using the Patch Tool in PS7.

Here, too, is another Photoshop approach... (Does PSP do "layer masks"?). I'm using Photoshop 7, so this is something you can do.

Although there are a lot of steps below, this is not difficult to do. It took much longer to type them than to "do" them!:
* Make a loose selection around the outside of the light beam. It does not have to perfect or precise.
* Drag the selection down a bit so it was over a "good" section of image
* Select > Feather > 2 (soften edges a bit)
* Layer > New > Layer via Copy - puts selection onto a new layer
* Used Move tool to position the newly created selection over the light streak
* Layer > New Layer Mask > Reveal all
* Set foreground color to Black (press X)
* Press B to select brush tool
* Left click (to reveal Brushes palette)
* Choose a soft-edged brush
* Airbrush setting: On
* Brush opacity setting: ~ 40%; Flow: ~ 50%
* Airbrush black around the edges of the selection to "blend it in" with the image below. If you reveal too much, press X to eXchange colors and airbrush with white.

I hope this gets you moving.

p.s. I used a Levels adjustment layer to selectively lighten the area around her eyes just a little.
