| | I also have a business class xDSL line. Just got it about two months ago. What a difference from my trusty old sp[eedy(?) modem. The first modem I had was a 500kb one back in the days of buletin boards---b-4 Browsers. -George from BAT central-Austin, Texas |

| | | Just got Broadband, thanks to my company.
Had a few problems at first, like someone else in this thread. But found out it was down to me keeping my mobile phone close to my landline phone. Now I keep them apart no problems. |

| | I went from dial-up to cable about 4 years ago and thought I'd died and gone to heaven! |

| | After going to DSL, I couldn't even thnk about going back to dial-up.
We moved house (again) about a month ago, but it was only this weekend that the DSL got installed - withdrawal symptons were setting in .
I was saving images to diskette (yes! ), working at home and then diskette back to work - good thing that's over!

| | | Well I am in the IT business and having found DSL, trully realise that time is money, spending so much time now on the net and updates, is not funny, upgraded my connection from 512 to 1.5k and heck, I do use it Most machines I deliver now are net/network ready, so much easier for updating, diagnosis, trully a tool of trade for me - no network card, hey, it's a freebie from me, makes my life much easier in most cases, for backup as well |

| | I have the same promise, but not holding my breath, as I am in the outer regions (not so popular, not so commercially viable). Cable is not an option for us due to us being in the 'nether' regions. With huge download limits, I could be "eye/eye Jim lad", but no, neither the interest nor the time, lol

| | | i have 3 Mb dsl (that's 3 mega-bit). and that's the download side. the upload is quite a bit slower, but acceptable.
i used to have wireless, but that was too slow here. and i used to have satellite. the downlink on that was incredible, reaching 5 Mb sometimes, but the upload was just slightly better than dial-up. satellite also has a built in lag of about 700 ms. so, if you're doing anything interactive, like an online game, forget it.
so, when congress finally made it feasible for the broadband companies to move into rural areas, i jumped on DSL and have been mostly happy with it ever since.

| | | --and having dialup at home was made even more frustrating by the unavoidable comparison to the T1 we have at the office. If I needed to download anything over a meg or two I usually did the d'load at work and put it on a flash drive or CD to take home. Pain in the you-know-what.
Those days are over. Yee-ha.

| | | Moving really large files If speed is not the issue, but moving really large files* is, consider yousendit.com: moves files up to 1GB!
* Got a bunch of hi-res photos to send? Zip 'm together (you can password protect if required) into one really big file/archive and send it.
Works great. |
