I have the same promise, but not holding my breath, as I am in the outer regions (not so popular, not so commercially viable). Cable is not an option for us due to us being in the 'nether' regions. With huge download limits, I could be "eye/eye Jim lad", but no, neither the interest nor the time, lol

i have 3 Mb dsl (that's 3 mega-bit). and that's the download side. the upload is quite a bit slower, but acceptable.

i used to have wireless, but that was too slow here. and i used to have satellite. the downlink on that was incredible, reaching 5 Mb sometimes, but the upload was just slightly better than dial-up. satellite also has a built in lag of about 700 ms. so, if you're doing anything interactive, like an online game, forget it.

so, when congress finally made it feasible for the broadband companies to move into rural areas, i jumped on DSL and have been mostly happy with it ever since.

hehehe, welcome to high speed, dk and yes, everything changes. i've found myself, in the last couple of years, contemplating moving to a new home. the first thing i look at is, 'can i get broadband there?'. i just cant go back to 56k!

--and having dialup at home was made even more frustrating by the unavoidable comparison to the T1 we have at the office. If I needed to download anything over a meg or two I usually did the d'load at work and put it on a flash drive or CD to take home. Pain in the you-know-what.

Those days are over. Yee-ha.

Moving really large files

If speed is not the issue, but moving really large files* is, consider yousendit.com: moves files up to 1GB!

* Got a bunch of hi-res photos to send? Zip 'm together (you can password protect if required) into one really big file/archive and send it.

Works great.

DSL, used to have cable but really do not like the company so switched to DSL. Used that for a few years now.

When is the next Art Tag, I pop in the doodle area most times but to be honest this was my first click on the art tag section, sounds fun.
