Soft Light Layer Example
Posted 10-06-2008 at 05:06 AM by cricket1961
On a thread about D&B techniques, I was asked to post a example of what one of my soft light layers looks like. Here is the link to that thread, the post is on the 3rd page.

| | Chris, I'm curious as to why you used a bit of color on this layer, rather than just black or white. What additional value does that provide? (And I *love* seeing the layer, btw. I've got a bit of a "thing" for looking at soft light layers...I find them fascinating...and a great way to reveal where you're sloppier than you think, in your work. Or that's the case with me, anyway! |

| | I use a bunch of color now and then to diminish color casts in small areas. Sometimes white or black just leaves a bit of residue that I don't care for. Chris |

| | That makes sense. I thought I'd read someone (maybe you?) saying that in a thread, a long time ago...never tried it myself, though, although I do sometimes encounter the color shift issue. I'll have to give it a try! |
