Retouching DVD.... threat? : )

Posted 01-10-2008 at 05:58 AM by cricket1961

Due to a lot of flak from my agents and quite a lot of encouragement from members here and retouchers in the industry, I have decided to do a tutorial DVD. Much to my agents dismay, she would love a book instead but I am the king of procrastination and not really liking to write, the two don't mix well with deadlines.

Not that I like to talk either though. I'm kind of a mime retoucher....

So instead of ursuping a existing thread and to consolidate suggestions from people on what they would like to have included in content, this post now exists.

Originally, and hopefully still, this will ideally be about skin. In the future I will do one about Apply Image and Calculations.

It has been blatantly told to me by some unknowing members that they would not mind watching me retouch a model for 5+ hours. Honestly, it would be a lot of time watching a silent movie. Except maybe some sounds that should be edited out(better left unsaid).((please)).

Cheers

i know that my eyes don't view color the same way on a Monday as i tend to get less sleep on Sunday nights, but how does caffeine affect someones visual perception?

Caffeine can cause the pupils to dilate a bit. Part of the adrenaline rush that happens on intake. Ever had your eyes tested at the eye doctors and they dilated your pupils? Remember how bright the light was when you tried to look without those fashionable sunglasses?
The light is harsh and highlights tend to overpower just about everything else. The same thing happens with Caffeine intake, just not to such a harsh degree. you will notice more contrast and such. And when you come down from the Caffeine rush the effect can go away and things ill look "normal" compared to the view with Caffeine.

Try to go decaffeinated for a week or two and see if you notice the difference.

    Chris,

Are you going to be making a tutorial about how to retouch bad skin?

I've seen many tutorials here and there, and many retouchers say that in order to retouch a picture; you need a model with an almost perfect skin, but for example, celebrities don't usualy have the skin of supermodels, yet, they would look flawless on magazine covers.

So yeah, my question is if the DVD would be containing any tutorials about how to retouch a bad skin and still make it look natural.

I don't believe that speed retouching will be apt in this instance. Not ruling it out though.
