eh??

Found this ad online .. just interested in other people's reactions to it ...

http://www.gumtree.com/london/55/18509755.html

"PHOTOGRAPHIC DESIGN STUDIO LOOKING TO HIRE A 'FLUID MASK 3' EXPERT.FLUID MASK 3 IS A PHOTOSHOP PLUGIN, SO OBVIOUSLY YOU NEED TO KNOW PHOTOSHOP. YOU MUST BE A GREAT RETOUCHER TOO.IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO USE FLUID MASK 3 PLEASE DO NOT APPLY. YOUR CV WILL NOT BE LOOKED AT. PLEASE SEND 2 SAMPLES OF CUT OUTS OR YOU WILL NOT BE INVITED FOR AN INTERVIEW. ALL THE BEST"

Don't know about you folks but I actually want to kick the guy that placed that ad in the face, somehow I feel tarnished by it. Feel like I need a bath or something.

Re: eh??

I've never used Fluid mask 3 - now I'm scared.
Knowing Photoshop in and out, being a great retoucher - that's just too easy.

Now, Fluid mask 3.......

Re: eh??

OK, alright, Heres my theory(ies).

He's a clueless photographer who was sold this thing as a super productivity tool, has no time or patience to learn how to make 5 silos a minute as he was promised, so he going to the very large outside world of Fluid mask "experts" to work it and probably teach the intern who will replace you in a month.

Or

It's a marketing scam by the Fluid Mask people to make you think you need such a silly thing. Refine edge in CS3 pretty much filled that bill.

Re: eh??

i've tried using that plug-in on a difficult "hairmask" image but havn't had much luck with it, the samples on their site look promising but it'll take more time to get a good result...

Re: eh??

Fluid Mask is very difficult to use. Takes some time to get used to it, but it can give good results.

But I would not use it in a production environment. Sigh... another "skill" I'll never know well enough.

Re: eh??

Knockout was easy to use but the results were very good, it's a shame that Corel won't update it for CS3.

Re: eh??

I tired Fluid Mask and had difficulty making do what I wanted. But, at the Photoshop World Conference, last year in Las Vegas, they made it look easy.

Re: eh??

hmm yep maybe you are right on theory 1. Site looks like its more aimed at trying to er.. entertain wannabe models. Nasty feeling about the whole thing, reckon Calculations is QUICKER than Fluid anyway.

Re: eh??

this is 3 mates together thinking "oh lets start a photo studio and take pictures of hot girls"... i mean, they are nice guys but i cant say i was that impressed with their set up. they also expect you to work for nearly free...

i was there for an interview and did a test and i pretty much left saying "i dont think so"

i wouldnt take this fluid mask 3 thing very serious... they'll get over it. maybe. oh mabye not...

Re: eh??

i have used fluid mask a bit. thought it might increase workflow
took some getting used too, not the most intuitive, but it works
in the end, even with difficult hair you can still do the same job quicker in pscs3 with some skill and a wacom.
