| | Well, this was really difficult... every entry I looked at seemed to alter my perception of the previous one!
Please bear in mind that i'm a 'non-expert' at this..! (Colourising AND voting..!)
All the entries were great, considering the the amount of detail in the original.
1 - northernshadow - The cooler colouring of the background seems to enhance the flesh tones of the subjects.
2 - Peter S - I liked the tonal balance and muted colours...only the brides 'punky' haircut stopped me from putting this at no. 1
3 - Daviskw - The warmth and richness appealed to me on this one
4 - soleah - Nice detail... background doesn't overpower subject
5 - cazubi - Liked the muted colours...and I really wanted the 'floozy' to be a real 'black sheep' guest!
Well done to everyone, it was really difficult to come up the top 5. |

| | | Given the amount of green in this pic it's not surprising that green would leak into un-intended areas (like faces and hair). First and second were picked on this basis even though a good argument could probably be made that a green caste could be expected in a room full of green. Most of the pics had stray greens (mine included) and I'm guessing this effect would have been lessened if the people were masked off and/or coloured last.

| | | Everyone did a great job in this difficult contest. Congratulations to all of you. Thanks, makeovermagic, for the album.
My votes are based on the final photo quality, reconstruction of missing the background and colorization:
1. Soleah -- Beautiful work to bring out the crispness and clarity of the photo. Colorization and background details are excellent. The bride’s dress is awesome.
2. Cazubi – Background restoration is detailed and extremely well done as is the photo quality and colorization.
3. twinbnj – Good work in maintaining the clarity of the photo and very nice colorization.
4. Doug Colwell – The photo quality is excellent and colorization is good.
5. Littlecoo – Great work on the photo quality. Colorization is good.

| | | 1 littlecoo: nice clean up and soft pastel colours, in keeping with a hand-painting - nicely done
2 Soleah: nice sharp picture retouch and grain removal - how did you manage the grain removal?? Very nice, colours just a little strong for me
3 Gary Richardson: grain removal and technique
4. twinjn: nice colorizing and grain removal
5. Doug C. execution, completeness and color
sean
Grain/noise removal played a big part in this one- well done everyone! |

| | Votes for June Contest
Hard one to judge, so I voted mostly on the impression they had on me. - 1st Soleah Had the most natural feel of all the entries, with a well chosen colour palette.
- 2rd Twin BNJ Liked this a lot, and it was close between this and Soleah as to which got top place. Personal taste, and a slightly sharper image by Soleah determined the order I chose.
- 3rd Lorraine Image seemed to have a predominantly pinky tinge and was a little too soft, otherwise beautifully executed.
- 4th Cazubi A little undersaturated, otherwise it would have got 3rd over Lorraine.
- 5th Doug Colwell Would have given this 1st place had it not been for the massive over contrast that had been applied, which ruined an otherwise impeccable job.
