Since the deadline was upon us and I had some time today, I thought I'd revisit my entry. Actually I just continued working with my initial entry [1] and went for a collage type rendition -- something like a movie poster.
The background image I chose is a photo [2] my cousin took (used with permission) on one of her sightseeing expeditions. It is the Monastery and Abbey of the Order of Saint Benedict in the Eifel (founded in 1093 by the Pfalzgrafen Heinrich II of Laach, consecrated in 1156) near Mendig, Kreis Mayen, Rhineland Palatinate, Germany. I featured
my interpretation of the photo last October on my Blog.
I felt my "vampire" needed a target for his apparent rage. Deep within my library, I found an old, rather risque snapshot of an acquaintance I took, suitable for his "thirst". She had the perfect expression and pose, but the image required a drastic crop which left a very small source. I did my best to fit it to my composition.
This was a very enjoyable challenge for me (yeah, I'm a bit warped). I think the biggest hurdle was the rule that it be photorealistic. Since vampires, ghouls, zombies, et. al. are not actually real, making things photorealistic suggested a hollywood type treatment. Hopefully, none of us will ever experience the "realistic" part of the equation.
At any rate, "Happy Halloween" to all of you who still recognize the holiday and good luck to everyone who entered.
