Re: Nov 07 Contest Discussion

It's been a little slow so far with contest entries. Is everyone still working away on their entries? Love to hear what kind of future entries everyone is interesting in.

Re: Nov 07 Contest Discussion

I'm still working on mine. It has been a bit frustrating at times because restoring isn't one of my pet things to do. I should be finished soon though, I hope.

Re: Nov 07 Contest Discussion

I am working on mine as well. I am a new member here, and I just found the contest area yesterday. I am about half way done with it now. Should have it posted by Friday. =) Good job to the 2 who have already posted their entries!

I do hope there's at least one more entry. Otherwise voting might be a bit awkward

Re: Nov 07 Contest Discussion

I think these restoration contest could be arranged differently, as no one want to show their cards too early. I know these contest should be friendly, but restoration is bit different from normal image manipulation as you can see results you need to "top". Maybe pics should be uploaded to moderators, and all entries revealed when the voting starts. Could work better on other competitions too?

Re: Nov 07 Contest Discussion

You've either given it your best shot or you haven't. The idea is to push your limits and build portfolio pieces, not to put in the minimum effort necessary to win.

Re: Nov 07 Contest Discussion

We are finally up to "5" entries for this month's contest (voting shouldn't take long ). I'm really hoping to see a few more. If restoration is new to you, don't let the contest scare you. Give it your best shot as it's the best way to learn! This is also a great chance to practice your cloning/healing brush skills.

Re: Nov 07 Contest Discussion

I have put in an entry, but I'm not completely happy with it. I'll keep playing with it till the contest closes and see what I can come up with.

Can we use this contest picture in our portfolios? I'm thinking about making a "portfolio" of my restorations.

You can use this contest picture in your portfolio to show samples of your work. For credit purposes the orginial image is from the Library of Congress’ Daguerreotype Collection.

I did try to give it a shot but i was stumbling in the dark, as it was way of of my league in both skill and patience

Re: Nov 07 Contest Discussion

Just wondering if the winner this month would be able to explain how he/she reached their final result. I believe this will go a long way for people just starting out in this field. Thanks
