Re: Feb 2009 Contest Discussion

I'm still learning the site: where everything is and how things are going. Thanks for the nice picture and for the challenging contest.
Here I am and I want to say that everybody has some lovely entries and I'm looking forward to see more.

Re: Feb 2009 Contest Discussion

for anyone wishing to know more about palette knife paintings, look here: http://images.google.com/images?q=pa...eQ2qWsCw&gbv=2

and if you have "cool iris"( http://www.cooliris.com/ ), it will make looking at those all a bit easier.

Re: Feb 2009 Contest Discussion

I wish Ruzzez had loaded up a higher quality picture, the detail is kind of fuzzy ( pixelated), and few others didn't load up the size that was requested and it is kind of hard to see the details again. I'm pretty late saying this but I just now took a very good look at all of them.

Re: Feb 2009 Contest Discussion

I hope everyone had fun with this contest! There were a lot of great entries, but there were still a few that did not meet the rules (final file size and username for filename). Please don't forget to review the rules before submitting your entries.

The winner this month for his excellent results with the digital palette knife is...
Kraellin

Great work Craig!

Top 5:

Kraellin -28
Janet Petty - 20
Swampy - 20
kilty560 - 14
Alcar - 12

Re: Feb 2009 Contest Discussion

Congratulations, Craig. Job well done. Winning is a real joy, innit? I didn't enter 'cuz this sort of manipulation just ain't my thang (and, I had no idea how to pull it off!) I was surprised though, that many of the RTP photoart enthusiastes also didn't enter! I hope you'll fill us in on your workflow.

Re: Feb 2009 Contest Discussion

i think T counted the votes wrong. i never win these things

but, thanks, T. and, thanks to everyone

my workflow was pretty simple, lonk... Art Rage, free edition. it has a built in palette knife tool. that's all i used.

but, i tend to agree with cassidy in the other thread that nobody truly captured a skilled palette knife artist, including me. i'm still practicing with Art Rage. and it's not that expensive for the full version. so, maybe with time...

btw, this really is my first win in these contests, so, thanks again T for a great contest

Craig that Art Rage looks like a lot of fun and it works with MACs too.

Re: Feb 2009 Contest Discussion

thanks, joe

hi cathy, yup, quite fun. it's similar to real painting. i dont have Painter, so this is my 'Painter'. it's nice, after all the filter work i do, to 'get my hands dirty' with art rage
