Holiday Greetings

It’s time to show-off your digital yard decorating skills.

Turn the provided photo into a holiday greeting card complete with yard decorations and snow. DO NOT add text.

Prize: NatureArt, donated by AKVIS

Prize Description: AKVIS NatureArt is an excellent tool for imitating the magnificence of natural phenomena on your digital photos. It also lets you create nature scenes from scratch, such as converting a blank background into a sea view or a night sky with scattered, glistening stars.

If a photo looks a bit lifeless and dull, you can add some dramatic nature effects by putting the sun or even a lightning bolt on it, and by adding rain or snow.

THE RULES:

1. Contest will run from 6 Nov to 5 Dec 2010. Deadline for entries is 7pm (Central Time). Note that the contest dates go into Dec.

2. I will not answer questions concerning the rules. Interpretation of the rules is as important as execution.

3. Tasks:

• Turn the provided image into a holiday greeting card
• Add yard decorations and snow
• DO NOT add text
• Final image must be exactly 800 pixels wide by 600 pixels high (landscape format). You can crop the image if you need too.
  

4. When you submit your entry put your username in the filename (ie: tpaul.jpg). This is so users can save the images to a local directory and remember who did what--important when it comes time to vote. Entries without the username in the filename will be disqualified.

5. Post your entries to this thread. Links will not be accepted. Please restrict your comments, questions or discussion to the Contest Discussion thread. Inappropriately placed posts will be deleted.

6. Only one entry per person. You can change your entry up to the deadline. Just remember to delete your other entries.

7. Voting will run from 6 Dec to 11 Dec. Deadline for votes is 7pm (Central). Only those with entries may vote. However, non-entries may vote in the contest discussion thread (note the votes will not be counted, but the participants will appreciate the feedback).

8. Voting:

• Submit the 5 best entries (by artist name) in order, starting with your favorite.
• You cannot vote for your own image.
• Only vote for one person per place.
• Once you have voted, do not change your votes. Many times the votes are tallied as them come in so any changes in the votes may not be reflected in the final results.

Finally, please remember that this is a friendly contest and suppose to be a learning experience. Tips and suggestions to help others are highly encouraged. Also please don’t limit your comments to just the top 5 when you vote. Most members
