Any help with putting a new paint job on the old house? I have tried blend modes like color and over lay, but they don't make it look new. I also tried some "lab" mode stuff, but I didn't like that either. Any other suggestions?

i know T doesnt like us hassling about the rules, but i'm a little unclear about bringing the photo up to modern times. does that mean we replace the horse and buggy with a truck and the market stand with a Kroger store or is that too drastic, or since the rules are a bit ambiguous or broad, is it just your own interpretation. i guess i'd have to go with the latter

so, i'm not asking T here for a clarification. i'm asking you guys. how are you going to interpret the rules?

Craig, I interpreted it the same as you. But to make it modern I wanted to give a nice paint job but have stalled on the project. I may end up just posting it as is and see what happens.

I thought this was a MOST daunting and difficult challenge. It was also ALmost the only contest I didn't enter since my first (with the Posidon guy) because it was just too darned hard. How did you approach your solution Cathy? Jaiah? I just did a tiny bit of clean up work every night for about two weeks. Mostly cut /paste and clone and fashioned on the San Francisco painted lady houses. doors and windows I totally filled in solid and recreated window & door treatments (shades & curtains).
We'd just also gotten a new car, a GMC Terrain, and when I put that in, the guy in the original pic fit it perfectly.

I spend 2 days just working on removing the house, and reconstructing the building, and I liked how that came out, but then I tried to paint it and was very unhappy with it. (note comment above) I ended up using the magic wand tool to selected the moldings and used a mask to show the patch of siding I made up. To give it depth I added two separate shadows underneath the mask layer but above the siding layer.
